anyone else having problems with playing avi’s over samba? for me it keeps on buffering and buffering. movie will play for a while, then suddenly just go into buffering fits. I have the pc connected via wired connection that hosts the avi, but wiimc acts as if it cannot keep up with the video file which is extrememly low bit rate. it’ll play 5 secs, stop buffer which takes forever. then play 5 seconds, buffer again.

Still unusable. Cannot change aspect ratio (locked on auto and of course auto does not know that my video files are 16:9). Still crashes on pressing home and selecting another video file. Freezes when playing video files and wii must be turned off by pressing power for several seconds. Very slow compared to Mplayer CE. Annoying message when playing a video file, press home (because there is no stop button, no exit mplayer etc) and then selecting pictures menu , it says something about no enough memory every time… if it does this every time then you better not show the annoying message and close mplayer thread…
Hand cursor still not aligned with the DVD menu
And all these errors after only 5 minutes of testing.
Tantric, you’re doing a great job, but instead of concentrating on non-vital features such as different languages etc you better make a stable app then you can add as many languages as you want…

Keeps refreshing continously the video list, returning the cursor at the beginning. A step back 🙁

The 0.0.1 difference most certainly did fool me. Why not do a more radical version number change? WiiMC 1.1? It looks more appealing and is more accurate. 0.0.1 sounds like just a minor bug fix or two. If you do discover a minor bug, and decide to release a new version for it, will it be called Wiimc 1.0.2.0.0.0.0.1?

    🙂

this program works great.the little complainst you get are just that…little complaints.for what it is its impressive.i got the channel working too.i havent check every little feature but overall it does what i wanted which was to play various media.you guys guys are good coders if several people are working on this.that mplayer ce seems like it had revisions left and right while you just been on this about a year.ive seen games that took 2-3 years to produce that were horrible.being software this is dope…keep up the work,i look forward to updates although if there is an update it must be small.it seems near complete right now.

  21. May 9th, 2010 at 13:19 | #21

i like how it plays everything from ogm,to even flash..and it does it good.

The DVD playing seems better, but I’ve got troubles with browsing the network: The page just keeps refreshing all the time, and if you do manage to catch the item you want to click on, the AVI doesn’t stream well.
With all the troubles some people are having, I wonder if this isn’t an IOS problem… What versions are you developing on? Maybe that’ll fix our troubles.
Overall, this is an excellent player! Keep up the awsome work.

Just to clarify, I agree; This is the GREATEST addition to the Wii. I’m just bummed that it wont play DVD’s Anymore. It did it at first, and I was hella impressed. : )

I also found that AVI’s Dont Stream well and some dont even play also VOB files single file Move VOB’s Stop playing after a small duration of time had this problem with the other release too apart from that the best app for wii byfar.

Keep Up The Good Work 🙂

only real problem i have is that smb file listings constantly refresh. other than that this is fantastic.

keep up the great work and progress. thank you so much for making such a wonderful contribution to the wii homebrew scene!!

    Nice one, thx 🙂
But I ne problem with the new version: Changing aspect ratio wont work (its loked)

On suggestiom: It would be nice if the fastforward/rewind duration could be set to lower values. I often watch movies in foreign languages with foreign subtitles too and have the problem that I cant read/translate fast enough. So it would be nice to rewind just 5 seconds.

    @Omar

Same for me 🙁 Constantly refreshes network folder – impossible to get to files before it refreshes.

  28. Tantric
    May 10th, 2010 at 12:25 | #28

The refreshing has nothing to do with SMB. It only happens if you have a WBFS drive plugged in. Either unplug it or wait for the next version.

Well my initial comments about this version may have seemed bad but I attest that after a bit of playing with my PC and the wii this is an amazing program. Discovered that when adding things to my Usb stick I have to use the “safely remove hardware” and then eject the drive or nothing will read from the drive., It seems to access the folders then return to the menu… if I choose to eject from the Pc like I mentioned before first then everything works great. Watching Stargate on it as we speak… thanks…!!!!

Fantastic. Congratulations on the amazing work. Despite the problems with the subtitles, everything is working fine. The number of errors decreased dramatically. Thanks for making this incredible media player.

    Thanks again and keep going.

    Hello

Is it possible to load both ports of USB on the Wii?
    Thats not a complain?

Its just a request that that would make wiimc even MORE perfect

    Grate job

    I am using WiiMC 1.0.2

Feature Request: playlist creation for Music, Video and pictures.

Bug: timed out when accessing SMB when NAS drives are powered down, but when selected again, it sees the drives and loads okay. PlayerCE used to do the same, but they delayed the timeout period and it worked great. Hopefully, this can be done the same way.

This is an awesome app! It replaces both Geexbox and MplayerCE for me, as it has features from both. I don’t use the DVD drive and don’t have iOS202 installed. I also don’t use an USB drive either. My NAS is my main source for all my media. The picture quality is very good for the Wii. It can’t match the hardware power of the PS3 though, but that’s not a fair comparison.
