Version 1.0.6 Released
July 21st, 2010
Version 1.0.6 has been released to (hopefully) resolve some of the issues people were having with 1.0.5. This release reverts the USB 2.0 change that allowed both ports to be used. Full changelog:
- Reverted USB2 changes
- Synced to MPlayer r31761
- Fixed display of radio stream information
- Other minor changes
Thank You! Fixed all my bugs! Great work and Fast!
1) Would it be possible to see the time remaining of a video like for mpeg, avi, etc ???
2) Why does wiimc crashes when I try to connect (after 3-4 tries) to a share SMB that is not reachable.
Thanks
Sorry for my ignorance… 1) was asking for music would be nice to see time remaining
i downloaded the new install via pc because everytime i tried the update it failed. [i have similair issues with snesgx, vbagx.. updates]
Do I just replace all the original files on my sd with the unzipped new install?
I’m using an old wii that was virgin 4.3 when i installed hbc. I havent installed ios202.
Is this the old IOS 202 or the new one? (and thanks WiiMC team!)
@aaron
Yes
@SirGir
You can use either IOS202.
Thanks for the fast reply!
I’m having trouble with the network share. It was working fine earlier today, I’m sure i didnt change anything on the pc [windows 7]
ive set wiimc’s network up as it was before, took the share off the pc then put it back on, but it still fails to connect@Tantric
Great job, thanks for the update.
What is the suggested method to properly update the IOS?
fixed smb problem by switching from ‘work’ to ‘home’ network
Love this program! Only problem is that it doesn’t recognize (or play) .mkv files, whereas Mplayer CE does. Any way to fix this? Thanks for your hard work!
Works great! My USB drive is recognized again <3
TThanks for fixing the bugs and im sorry if i bother you in the 1.0.5
and again sorry for my bad english
@Jeff
Well, it recognizes .mkv files, but I am having the same problem.
It plays them, but the framerate is extremely slow, like one frame every 2-6 seconds, often crashing wiimc.
I really wish this would be fixed, too. The addition would make this an even more complete program, and I would have no reason to use Mplayer CE.
hi,i’m from china.i’m a super movie fan. =)
First of all ,thank you very very much for this excellent software which i can use my WII to play movies instead of my ancient old PC.
i have been using version 1.04 until today i download 1.06. and v1.04 works really good in my wii.
but i have 2 big problems in 1.06 version.
1: when i watching movie the time guage never come out in this version,it should appear when my remote point to the screen.
2:in the movie if i press the “home” button ,it should pause the movie and quit the moive ,go to the movie list menu.but this v1.06 not work well at all,after i press “home” button the movie stopped and my wii died too…completely dead, the only thing i can do is power off my wii then restart.
please help me with there problems, thanks again
I just wanna say thanks for an awesome product! Keep up the good work guys 🙂
This is unbelievable. Yesterday I spent all afternoon that the version 1.0.5 don’t recognize my USB drive. At midnight withdrew … and an hour later, while watching my favorite TV serie with WiiMC using the SD card … displays a warning that there is a new update. I accept and install the new update … and voila! WiiMC 1.0.6 installed correctly and recognizing USB port 1 and port 2.
Thanks, thanks, thanks.
Right now I go to … DONATE! 😉
Freezes during sdcard avi playback when ‘home’ button is pressed. No usb device connected. I’m using the old IOS 202.
I’m watching my scrubs DVD’s and every time a new episode starts, the audio and video goes out of sync. Anybody else getting this problem?
@lost101
I have the same problem as you do. Does someone know why this is happening? Please WiiMC can you fix this problem?
Hey guys! Thanks for all your effort!
Everything into this program work like a charm except from the fact that when i press the Home button it won’t exit the WiiMC… Now i’m with the newest release but i do have to disconnect the power cable to exit the program… i will wait for a fix; Thks for the great support!

the new version not work the new ios 202 not read my hard disk toshiba!!!
The new version works so far with my USB, thank God. However, I’m back to not being able to run DVD’s. (I have a feeling it’s the IOS thing. Is there ANY way I can get the old IOS202 install? I can’t find it ANYWHERE. . .)

1-0-5 and 1-0-6 worked well for me. the wire and glee episodes almost daily. favorite homebrew.
This by far the best media player I have used, its pretty fast, I am experiencing some issues, like I am unable to use USB, also after I play video I cannot return to menu..
What a great product. After this upgrade viewing movies (avi) from my Synology NAS works a lot better. Before it hang when it tried to connect to the net share. And I had to unplug the power cable to reset my Wii. A timeout feature would have been a nice thing to have.
A thing that could be improved is the sync of subtitles. It is a bit hard to measure the timelag and it is difficult to set the right subtitle delay time. A great thing could be a visual delaysetting. Ex. hit a button on the wii remote “Now talk” and “Now subtitle” followed by accept new subtitle delay or cancel setting.
Keep up the good work guys…
Jeff BTW Wii isn’t powerfull to play HD files
would that be possible to Add option to auto-play next audio file instread of selecting a playlist
Can the team please, add the multi-audio stream (dual audio files) option, because every time i want to watch a movie with a second audio stream i have to switch to another player like Geekbox!!!!!
@victor What are you talking about? Just press the DOWN button on the Wiimote to switch audio streams.
zidmut2: MKV is just a container format. It doesn’t automatically mean HD resolutions, you can put whatever you like into it.
Is it possible to add shadow on the subtitles font ?? Its easier to read with shadow
Absolutely love it! HUGE improvement over Mplayer CE. My only beef, is like others have mentioned, is the issues with .mkv format. If you guys could work around that, it’d be perfect.
@zidmut2
They’re not HD. They’re FFMPEG encoded .mkv at 640×480. .MKV is just a container, not a codec. .MKV can hold multiple audio streams as well as multiple subtitles whereas .avi can only have one audio stream and hard-coded subtitles.
@Jeff
You’d have to upload a small sample on the Bug Tracker for us to debug this.
My usb hard drive is seen by usbloader gx but not by Wii MC v.1.06. It is formatted in FAT32, but the drive’s size is 100 Gig. Is that why it can not be seen? I have already installed IOS 202.
Does playlist work for you ? It seems not work until i updated to 1.0.6
That partition isn’t seen by Wii MC at all. The usb option doesn’t even show. Only sd or dvd. I never used any other version.
Hellp guys and thanks for this great app. It’s definitely my favorite media player.
I upgraded from 1.0.4 to 1.0.6 and the SMB network share on my Iomega NAS doesn’t work anymore. I tried to delete the share and rebuilding it and reinstalling version 1.0.6 from scratch but nothing happened.
So I downgraded to 1.0.4 and the NAS shares are working again. Those shares are free for everyone, so no password is needed. Maybe you can use some help.
Thanks
Whaddap?
I don’t know where i should report this,, but when i want to play a .mp4 file from a usb 2.0 HDD i click it and it freezes and just restarts wii, idk if this has already been discovered, hopefully work has been done for 1.07! good luck. !
can u use WiiMC Channel Installer 1.2 to make a channel for 1.0.6
Jo dudes! Thanks for the awesome program
I’m wondering though if srt subtitles would be possible in the future? Thanks for all your hard work you put in this software!
Hi. Just discovered this awesome application. I’ve used the new install link. But unfortunately, the screen control ui doesnt work. Meaning i cannot skip the film etc. And the film will free, and the wii will become unresponsive. However, once my wii is connected to the intenet this issue seems to disappear.
Im not always connected to the internet, so if u can kindly fix this issue that will be great.
But overall, this is definitely better than other media player available out there 🙂
Hi guys.
Congrats and thanks for this great piece of software.
After upgrading to 1.0.5 WiiMC stopped listing SMB share files. I can successfully connect though. Issue remains in 1.0.6. So, I’m stuck in 1.0.4.
Samba 3.2.5 Debian Lenny kernel 2.6.18-4-686.
Best.
Hey guys, Thanks for such an awesome program- I’d say I use it on par with my games
I’ve only had one issue: the smb seemed to work on its own will with 1.0.5 and now I cant seem to get it to work at all on 1.0.6
Ive tried switching from work to home networks and back. enabled permissions for my users, deleted and redownloaded the player and reset the smb settings a few times. but wiiMC fails to connect
I’m using windows 7 and im sharing my external hard drive
Thanks again for all your hard work guys! please keep it going!
The newest versions of WiiMC 1.0.6 and mPlayerCE both have a fast, rather loud clicking noise in the audio when playing (streaming smb)avi’s (xvid) that have AC3 audio (not that it can play 5.1 but that’s just what many avi’s i have are). I reverted back to WiiMC v1.0.4 and my old mPlayerCE install (not sure of version off hand) and problem solved. Ideas? I searched the net high and low and only found 1 other instance of this reported, with no resolution… Just wanted to make sure you guys are at least aware of this. Great player otherwise by the way! I’d be happy to just stay at v1.0.4 for now but I always get the update notice (anoying if you don’t want updates, should be setting to disable the check). Is there any way to disable the update check/prompt? Thanx!
@Tambucho
Exactly the same for me I have a Iomega HMNHD it’s working fine with 1.04 but not with further version…
Good day. Does anyone knows how to change the audio track in videos with multiple audio tracks? I’ve tried about everything, and nothing has worked so far. Thanks.
