Version 1.0.7 Released
August 15th, 2010
Version 1.0.7 has been released along with an updated WiiMC Channel (no longer uses IOS202 and no longer requires a trucha-bugged IOS for installation), and brings with it many changes and improvements. Most notably, IOS202 support has been removed in favor of IOS58, YouTube support was added (this release will overwrite your onlinemedia.xml, just like 1.0.6 did), and playback of MKVs has been fixed. Full changelog:
- IOS 202 support removed
- USB 2.0 support via IOS 58 added – requires that IOS58 be pre-installed
- WiiMC channel updated – requires IOS58 and does NOT require a cIOS to install. Thanks to megazig and svpe for help with this
- DVD support via AHBPROT – requires latest HBC or latest WiiMC channel
- Synced to MPlayer r31961
- YouTube support (thanks to lukegb and ataraxis for some help)
- Picture zoom, rotate, pan, auto-rotate via exif data (thanks ataraxis!)
- Fixed seeking for local FLV files
- Fixed black-screen video issue with videos having widths over 1024
- Fixed playback of MKV files
- New YUV->RGB conversion in TEV for videos up to 720p (thanks sepp256!)
- Restrict video loading to 720p (1280×720)
- Enable caching of DVD CSS keys. They are written to the ‘css’ folder (created automatically).
- Fixed playback of files with mono sound
- Fixed issue with HTTP over-buffering
- Other minor improvements/corrections
I don’t know if this should be here… but, I can’t install the WiiMC channel 1.3… this is what appears: “ERROR Unable to atain NAND access! Installer cannot continue.” and it’s running on IOS36… what I should do? bcause with channel 1.2 there is no problem to install it…
:O is that 720p support i see?
Install IOS58 first – http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS58_Installer. Then (re)install HBC 1.0.8 and run the installer from there.
Hey, having some problems unfortunately. Downloaded ios 58 installer, ran it (after letting HBC update), installed fine. Let Wiimc update, worked with no errors. Downloaded and ran channel installer 1.3, deleted old channel, installed with the new one, no errors. Now, when I load Wiimc through the channel, my WD Elements 1 Terabyte hard-drive will not show up. If I try unplugging then plugging in, or only plugging in in once Wiimc has loaded, I get a code dump, one which cannot reload, ie freezes. I can load Wiimc through the HBC, and my drive shows up, but playback/access is at USB 1.1 speed. Tried reinstalling all the above components, including a fresh install of Wiimc, but all the results are the same. Running system menu 4.2, I can provide more info if needed.
Flawless for me. YouTube support = I’m VERY happy.
EXCELLENT JOB.
Sorry to double post, just a question: Lately I haven’t been able to read DVD’s through WiiMC. . but to be honest, my Wii wont even run retail / burnt discs anymore through the Disc Channel. So I’m guessing it’s not a WiiMC issue?
My drive is also not showing up in 1.07. WD Elements 500gb drive. IOS58 was pre-installed, HBC 1.08. Same thing happened with the 1.05 update, until 1.06 showed up.
EDIT MY LAST POST: Seems to work when I go directly into the HBC, but not through the channel itself. (Yes I updated it) Not sure what the speeds are.
SORRY TO TRIPLE POST: But actually, I’m having the same problems as the guy above, haha. My HDD does not show up when I load through the channel, and when I load through HBC, It’s at 1.1 speed.
Tried a second hard drive, a usb powered one, and a usb stick; same problems as above. If 1.0.7 has been working for others, I guess it is something to do with some other ios/cios that is installed on my Wii, as opposed to hard drive incompatibility? Youtube support works really well btw!
Seagate 1tb HDD also not working through channel loader. everything works fine when loaded through Homebrew. (unsure of speed)
Thanks!
Same as everyone else HDD not showing up. Downgraded to 1.0.6 for the mean while.
Looks like Tantric is aware of and already sorting out this problem. Also, if you see more than just a split second of buffering time when playing a video file from a hard drive, chances are the speed is 1.1, not 2.0.
If the IOS202 is not needed anymore, what would be the correct way to remove it from the system?
thanks very much for developing this excellent program. i have a question, though: why remove ios202 support? i hate having to install new ioss!
I have problemas with this new version on files FLV from SMB share. The playback os files is wrong, the buffer is not continuous, the files and in the middle (sorry my english, i’m brazilian)
same problem…ios 58 pre installed,..hbc 1.08….new channel installer 1.3 but it says no usb storage/drive detected….both through hbc and using the channel/forwarder..it gets to the wiimc screen but doesnt detect my drive so everything seems good up to that point.using a seagate free agent go 500gb
Hi,
1st thanx for the hard work that u are making.
I had update from 1.6 to 1.7 and after install ios58 I can’t use my hard disk. My system menu is 4.1E with HB 1.0.8
Gabriele: Dude everyone is having the same issue, from what I understand (and read,) Tantric’s got it covered, just sit tight.
New Issue.
DVD Playback isn’t working anymore.
Told me that i have an invalid DVD Format.
HB 1.0.8 and 4.3E System.
I tried watching 2 movies today, and the sound on both of them were really out of sync, and I couldn’t adjust it because it was about 4 seconds off.
Oh, forgot to mention (sorry for the double post), both videos are pretty large in size (1GB, 720×384, v: 1112kbps, a:433kbps, 6 channel), and I’m watching them over FTP (I can’t get smb figured out, yet -_-)
Is anyone else having choppy DVD playback? It wasn’t like this on the last version.
Freezes during sdcard avi playback when ‘home’ button is pressed. No usb device connected.
I’m having the same trouble playing DVD. Told me that I have an invalid DVD format.
@pnkr0cker I’ve just installed WiiMC for the 1st time, and tried to play a DVD. It starts, but plays choppy. Glad to hear this has been better in previous versions, so there is hope of playing DVDs on the Wii :-).
I’ve tried using WiiMC today as I’ve heard it has overtook MediaPlayerCE but I keep getting WiiMc does not have access – AHBPROT is not enabled. It says I’m using a fakesigned IOS (trucha Bugged) before that comes up…Why is this and what can I do to fix it? My Wii is 4.2e and fully softmodded with a IOS’s all updated via PimpMyWii.
