    First I want to say, I love you guys and appreciate that you made WiiMC. I use it more than I use my Wii for actual games, haha. Only complaint I ever have (and I read through somewhere on your site why and know its Wii limitations so Im not upset) is that I cant play higher resolution files. I dont really care about the higher resolution as my tv is old school humongous couch sized projection with no way to see the difference anyway but just because it would make it easier that I dont have to go through each file individually and down convert it before playing it on my Wii as I acess that nas harddrive from other places where I would want the higher quality. Isnt there any workaround on that though? Even a way to down convert the file before playing it built in? Im not a programmer so if the answer is a no then I still love you guys anyway.

    Thanks so very much for making WiiMC and for all your hard work!

    I use WiiMC every night. Updating now, keep up the good work :). Much more stable than MplayerCE, the only reason I didn’t use WiiMC earlier is the lack of GC controller support :).

    This is the best program for the Wii…period!!! Thank you for making this, especially since it not only saves using the Wii’s disk drive, but for Wii owners, like me, who have a disk drive that cannot read DVDs. I’m anxious to test this latest of updates.

    The problem is not with WiiMC, but with the wii it’s self not begin able handle HD stuff.

    @K
    Check out VLCShares… There is a section here on this forums. I to am in a similiar boat where I share my drives with a PS3 as well. VLCShares uses VLC to transcode the media for the Wii…. Of course the best output you will get from the Wii is 480p.

    hi!! great work, people!! šŸ˜€ but i think theres a bug or something, i’ve been using a “media server” called “pelisalacarta”, but it now stopped working with the new version of WiiMC, i reinstalled 1.1.7 and it worked again, so it’s a WiiMC thing.. i’m sure!! i think that the PLX file is not processed as it should or something… i hope you could fix that cuz WiiMC+pelisalacarta = awesome entretainment system!! xD

    Thanks for all the hard work guys.
    However I have noticed that in ver 1.1.8 it is 60X slower at decoding audio streams then it used to be. On the same connection XBMC used to be slower then WiiMC (ie ver 1.1.1), but now in ver 1.1.8 of WiiMC it is 20X slower then XBMC. What changed?
    Itā€™s taking a very very long time to start decoding audio streams.

    Best Media program on the Wii. Even these typical English.Sheep.Shaggers I know in London who were criticising the program now use it.

    Hello,

    Thanks for your work. Yesterday, I updated to the new version, 1.1.8. Unfortunately, there is an issue related to subtitle. The version is not able to show subtitle for DVD movies. It is very important to me to have subtitle. The old version didn’t have the issue. Could you fix that?

    Thanks

    you need to add type=”playlist” in onlinemedia.xml
    Ex:

    link name=”pelisalacarta” addr=”http://192.168.0.10:8080″ type=”playlist”

    And you need this wiimc beta:

    I have a problem playing videos using SMB. The buffering (x%) appears each few minutes/seconds and video stops until buffer reachs 100%.
    I had to downgrade to 1.1.7 to play ok. I didnt change the cache options.

    Playing Youtube videos the same thing happen (buffering each few seconds) on 1.1.7 but not on 1.1.6
    As I dont watch much youtube I upgraded to 1.1.7

    “Clicking on a browser file already loaded will now resume instead of reload”
    That’s not really an improvement… I used to reload the file to update the subtitles that I forgot to rename exactly like the movie file name but, I guess I can’t do that anymore…

    Hallo to all. Thank’s for Wiimc… it is a great application. However my usb hdd drive stop working after a while of inactivity (for example if you stream internet radio and than go back to browse a hdd folder). It is a samsung G3 1.5 TB. It works fine with all applications (homebrews, loaders, sneek…) I use on wii. I have a (first/primary) 64GB FAT32 partition dedicated to homebrew. Whan the problem heppens, hdd led continuosly to blink. Also if you are able to return to homebrew channel (the most of times wiimc seems to block forever during hdd access), hdd is no more available. Thank’s in advance.

    maybe their could be some small subtle indicator thatā€™s its doing something in the corner of the screen.

    I donā€™t think my problem is related to a version check. Its like itā€™s taking a long time to cache the stream or something. In the online setting area I have it set for %5.
    maybe there could be a setting for ā€˜noneā€™?

  32. rodries
    June 6th, 2011 at 03:56 | #32

    @wiiboy7
    if this happend the first time only then the problem was related to the update check because the new server use transfer-encoding: chunk, so wiimc wait 15 secs before finish check, and while wiimc is checking mplayer can’t be called
    It’s fixed now in svn

    but if you have always the same problem is related to the stream speed, wii has a slow & not optimized net

    hi rodries!! well.. i tried using — type=”playlist” — for making “Pelis a la carta” work again… and it works with 1.1.7, but when i change the boot.dol for the one you linked here, it doesn’t work!! =( what should we do now??

    and i’d like to ask you… is there a way to specify the subtitle source in the playlist??? theres a website called http://www.cuevana.tv that pulls the video from megavideo and the subtitles from it’s own server, “pelis a la carta” pulls cuevana’s links to the megavideo movies, and it works great on wiimc, but there’s no way to tell WiiMC where the subtitle for the streaming movie is… would it be hard to add this feature??

    and another feature that would be great… WiiMC “streams” the movie, but once you hit play, you can’t rewind or FF, or move the time bar…. i was thinking that maybe.. just maybe.. it could be “streamed” and “downloaded” at the same time, saving it to a USB hard drive (i already have one plugged all the time for the game backups) and then, you could skip some parts of the movie or rewind or anything… and then delete the movie from the USB hdd… would it work??

    Hello, first time trying this app.

    I manage to get video started via usb, and it’ll play for about a minute before I get an “exception (dsi) occurred” error and a codedump.

    It does it regardless of which video I try playing. Any ideas?

    Thanks for your hard work. I have another issue related to youtube. The player shows spaces instead of cyrillic letters when I used youtube search. I am from a country that uses a cyrillic alphabet. Could you solve the issue?

    @Fernando

    I see the same thing. With this version the videos always buffer at the begining for a min or two when using a smb share. From my tetsing, 1.1.7 seems to work better for watching video over a smb share. Ive switched back to 1.1.7 for now as it just seems to stream better over smb.

    I am having a sync issue with this version of wiimc, I took a while to upgrade but finally did so, but the subtitles are out of sync, usually in HDTV avi files.
    I downgraded to 1.1.7 and it files are working perfectly.
    Thanks!
