I guess this would be a pretty minor bug but having YouTube videos in pause for a long time makes the video end before it reaches the actual end, it’s been happening for a awhile now about a few versions ago I think.

There’s absolutely nothing you can do. Your Wii cannot play DVDs. It’s impossible – see the FAQ – http://www.wiimc.org/documentation/frequently-asked-questions/

Hi There! Long time supporter of WiiMC, I was curious if it was possible to intergrate Hulu into WiiMC. Similiar to the YouTube tab. Love to here any comments or thoughts. 🙂

This is not enough info to go on. Is this using SD? SMB? USB? all of them? What IOS is WiiMC reporting to use? are you launching from HBC, the Forwarder, etc? What kind of file is it (not the extension, the video/audio codecs)? Does this happen with every format? eg: if you’re trying an h264, have you also tried a divx?

This happens for me too (sometimes it crashes with a stack dump). I am using usb hard drive (i don’t know how to see what ios is wiimc using), using forwarder for wiimc. The video is xvid

I have the blackscreen-crash with 8 seconds-reload, too. I am using a USB-HDD and it crashes randomly. Sometimes it plays my DivX-Avis and sometimes it craches. My FLV-Files wont work anymore and freeze with a green screen. WiiMC uses IOS 58, newest revision. It makes no difference if I start it over forwarder or hbc.

I had the same problem as everyone above is talking about at first too. I updated with the Wii running from my SD card, I then got the same error every time I tried to load a video. So I copied over just the boot.dol from my usb drive that had the previous version of WiiMC to the SD card and then let it update again. Problem solved. I am now on 1.2.0 and everything seems to be working fine. Maybe there is a glitch in the updater that affects some people who had certain settings? If what worked for me doesn’t work for anyone else with the problem, I would try deleting the WiiMC folder and re-downloading it fresh.
Also, I love this program! I use it on my Wii more then I play games. Thank you!!

Dear Cornflake12. Thank you for your tip. I had problems with Wiimc version 1.18 and 1.19 crashing. I just deleted the Wiimc directory on my SD and reinstalled Wiimc with version 1.2.0. Everything is working perfect now.

Greetings WiiMC team. I have found a problem with Youtube playback. On both the current and previous version, loading files indeed has been fixed, but only in 360p (medium) and 480p (HQ) modes. In 240p (low) mode, I always get “error loading Youtube file”. I have tried dozens of different clips, all of which work in modes other than 240p. Just thought I’d bring this to your attention for those like me who run on slow internet connections.

em^i think your software is really good ,but I still have some suggestions for this version ps:my english is not very goodO(?_?)O
First ,about the setting of dvd (especially the language and subtitle),I really wish you to rewrite the code of it because it is very unconvenient to change language and subtitle while I am watching dvd movies.
Second, this software cannot compatible all kinds of dvd menu(some of them cannot be Broadcasted and show the garbled mistake)
I wish you fix this problem and good luck!thanks for your software!

Hello. Your software is awesome and I really appreciate the work you are doing. I just updated to 1.2.0 and now I can’t connect to my NAS drive via SMB (“failed to connect to network share”). It used to work great. I checked all the settings, username and password. Other devices can connect to the NAS and the network connection on the Wii is working (I can stream online videos). Also, I seem to be getting a lot more “error loading file” messages when I try to watch YouTube videos. Hope you can look into this. Thanks for a great piece of software.

Hey, first off, I want to say you guys are doing a great job. I have a question regarding getting the “exception (DSI) occurred” screen. I have already tried taking out the no_ios_reload line from your meta.xml. It had no effect. I have always had this problem with WiiMC but it was not frequent enough to bother me. However, with the more recent updates, it has gotten substantially worse. I was wandering if there is a known fix for this error. On a separate note… I am curious to know what this exception actually means. Is it a stack overflow exception. I only ask because i have very little free space on my wii and i thought that might be filling up causing a reboot. Maybe not, i don’t know. Thank You for your time.

The WiiMC application is located on the sdhc card (8Gb). I launch it through your official forwarder. Homebrew is using IOS58 v24.32. WiiMC is reporting Version 1.2.0 and IOS: 58The error happens only when I try to play or exit a video. Those are the only times. As far as codecs, I do not know. If you would tell me how to check that i would gladly provide that information.

I had the problem that wiiMC hung and displayed a black screen indicated that reloading. This happened to me in several versions.
To fix the I removed from the file meta.xml the line that says .
I found it at a forum in Spanish and has worked me. I was able to play a video when it crashed before doing anything.

It’s a HBC bug, it has been commented a lot of times, it’s related to network stuff, probably you haven’t config and synced your net before launch wiimc.

hi rodries and tantric!!! great job you’re doing, guys!! thanks a lot, it works great! but theres some things i’d like to ask you guys, i dont know if it would be too hard to code, or if it would require too much of rewriting…. but here they go..
    – a way to specify a path for subtitles in a plx playlist… why?? theres a “media server” called “pelisalacarta” that gives wiimc links for a lot of movies from different sources.. much like navi-x. one of the sources is cuevana.tv, and they have a file for the video and a file for the subs.. a way to grab’em both would be awesome!!!
    – another way to have the subtitles working, is that pelisalacarta works as a server, and it can download the video from its source (i.e. megavideo) and the subs, i have configured wiimc to connect via FTP to pelisalacarta’s “download path” and grab the files (video and subs) using wiimc’s”videos” section and not “online media”, but if i start playing the file while its still downloading, wiimc will only play until it reaches what was downloaded when it started playing… not like streaming… is there a way to change that??? probably the first option for subs is easier.. right??
    – when browsing online media… could you use the little space under the “banner” or picture to show the description sent by navi-x (or pelisalacarta)??? it would be great!! so we know what it is about not only by its name. the “description” tag in plx already exists, it just needs to be shown!!
i hope these things can be done!!! and thanks again, guys!! xD

I have a lot of errors using the last release, movies are not playing, black screen with 8 secs appears every time. I had to return to v.1.1.8, I will wait for the new version, this post just to let you know that as the other folks that have posted before me, we have issues with 1.2.0

Thanks for this great wii addon, anxious to have 1.2.1

    October 5th, 2011 at 11:09 | #35

A follow up since my last post here:

I’ve clean installed 1.2.0 in hope that the “black-screen-8-secs” will go away. But no, 80% of the time, i try to start any movie, video, tv episode… it will crash. I’ll install 1.1.8, and live with the annoying “there’s a new version” pop-up if that’s what it needs.

The app uses IOS58, and i try to watch .avi, .mkv encoded in Xvid or .264 generally, from 20 mins. to 2 hours clips.

The same “black-screen-8-secs” happens to me too. I tried to install back to 1.1.9, the same thing happens. I feel like it has to do with the subtitle, if I turn on the subtitle, it freezes immediately.

Follow up on my last post:

I reinstalled 1.0.8, and the subtitle works just fine.

First I have to say that WiiMc is a great mediacenter! I really happy that you made it.
But I too have the same issue with 1.2.0 too much 8 sec black screen of death so I revert too.
Also the DVD player experience can be better if one will be able to navigate the DVD on screen menu with wiimote’s arrows.

All In all a great software! 🙂

I have problems with this application since 1.1.8 (I think).
The issue is that my WD Passport Essential 320Gb HDD stops to run after a bit of time (variable) I’m watching a media, lighting off the white led on it. The only solution availabe is to shutdown Wii and repower it, then reenter WiiMC and continue viewing from last point… very boring!
Is seems that USB goes in sleep mode after a lapsed time, instead of remaining awake due to port use. Any idea for fix it or I have to change application?

    @João
Depend where you plug your usb device, Port0 -> Bottom & Port1 -> Up
You have to select where is your usb device, becuase you can use an usb ethernet in the other port so the ehci driver only use the selected port.
Everytime you change the ios202 selection you have to restart wiimc

    Hi Tantric and Rodries,

In this new version if you try to playback from SMB and you close the WIIMC without “disconnecting” from SMB share, when you reenter again in WIIMC and the SMB share is not available, ovbiusly, you get an error. <- At this point everything is OK.
But if you try to navigate to another SMB share (I have various NAS servers), sometimes it starts reproducing fine, but many times it hangs, or in the middle of the new movie you are watching it freezes.
You don't have to reboot th WII, it's only frozen and it tries to continue, but finally you have to restart the system.
This issue never happen with previous versions.

Thank you very much guys, nice work!
