Hey. I’m the guy that every friend calls and says “Hey, hack my wii for me?” It’s no big deal, I tell them they can just walkthough the Hackmii pages on their own, but whatever.
Anyway, the first time I saw WiiMC was about a month or two ago when I was installing homebrew stuff on a friend’s wii. Totally impressed.
Today, I’ve gone through and updated everything on my wii exactly how I remember using everything I know.
I’ve tried Every version of WiiMC, I’ve tried it with old versions I know worked on my friends, I’ve tried re-installing IOS 202 (says successful everytime).. And Every. Single. Load: (I always go through the HBC, no channels): DSI exception crash. Everytime. It doesn’t load, nothing – it just spits garbled numbers at me.I’m willing to sit here and go through the annoying “well, did you do this?” questions? Because I passed my wits end about an hour ago – so much so, I’m surprised I’ve managed top type this whole note without punching anything.
Thanks.
May 24, 2010 at 8:23 pm #24393rodriesKeymasterAnything plugged into the USB ports? If yes, try removing.
May 24, 2010 at 8:42 pm #24392mikeanywhereParticipantDid you ever have those moments where you lose your car keys to the point where you nearly beat the crap out of your kids because they took them? (For the record I don’t have kids 🙂 ) .. and after 4 hours explaining to your wife (don’t have that either) that she hasn’t raised her children to respect other people’s things, you get into the car to go to the dealership to get new keys – only to find that you left them in th ecar the whole time?
I feel kinda like that right now.
I have no idea why I didn’t do that (or why it works, but at this point, I don’t wanna know), but thanks so much.
I’m gonna go feel dumb elsewhere. Awesome.
May 24, 2010 at 9:25 pm #24390rodriesKeymasterHold on. Why don’t you let us all know what was plugged in there? It might help others in the future from encountering the same problem.
May 24, 2010 at 10:18 pm #24389mikeanywhereParticipantAh right..
Plugged in was my external back up drive (IDE, not one of flash new-fangled thingers the kids are usin’ these days.) Connected using a standard IDE to USB 2.0 enclosure.
Hope that helps a little bit. Thanks again for everything,
May 24, 2010 at 11:18 pm #24391rodriesKeymasterHmm. Next version might fix that issue then. For now, keep it unplugged I guess 😉
May 27, 2010 at 10:03 pm #24394HagBitlaultusParticipantI had exactly the same issue running on the official 1.0.3 release. Didn’t try unplugging my external drive though, but I guess that might have solved it (gonna try out these days). Anyways, what I just wanted to add is that the crash on startup was fixed for me when I used an unofficial compiled rev330 of WiiMc. Works like a charm with external HDD plugged in… so obviously somebody already fixed the bug, hope we won’t see this again in 1.0.4
