    I have installed the latest version via homebrew. i have a bunch of .mkv files to play. i can load and play the files but the audio and video dont sync and the video is choppy. i have tried both usb and sd card.

    .mkv is a container, I’m suppose you have an h264 video…
    Check if the resolution and framerate is under the settings described here
