    It appears if I play avi over smb. If I stop the playing and start it again, sometime the noise disappears.

    I just had the noises you described last night. I was watching a movie I had stopped earlier and then when I went back and started it again the crackle was there. I tried fast forwarding and rewinding but didn’t help. However I just shut down Wiimc and then restarted it and the movie now continued without the crackle noise.

    I had the same noise without IOS58 installed.
    When it happens I simply play the file again.
