Well that was weird, could have sworn I submitted these suggestions yesterday but today they’re nowhere to be seen : Anyway, re-submitting/actually submitting this time. Though if for some reason they were deleted, could you PM me the reason as I’m likely to miss it if you post it in the thread before deleting, thanks.
Transfer to HDD:
Would it be possible to add a feature which would allow users to download/install a video from the network share location to an attached external hard drive?
I ask this as it would solve some peoples (mine included, on occasions) issue with streaming via wifi if you were able to place the file to be played onto a USB HDD and stream/play it from there. Since there seems to be no issue with hard drive playback the feature could be quite handy. Now I know what you’re thinking; “Why not simply transfer the file to your external hard drive via computer instead”. Well firstly, because it’s more convenient this way, secondly if the idea isn’t too hard to implement, perhaps it could become an option (selectable) to, instead of buffering/streaming, have wiimc downloads the file to HDD first and then play it instead, and thirdly, though this kind of links into the convenience point, some of us might have powered external hard drives as opposed to USB powered ones and to have to unplug everything, move it to whether your PC is situated, plug it back in, transfer the file, unplug it again and return it to the wii’s whereabouts and then plug it all back in is quite a pain.
Signal Strength Indicator:
This one is pretty self-explanatory, I think. A small wifi signal strength indicator placed somewhere within the wiimc layout would be a nice feature, might even help detect whether the wii is placed in a particularly bad area for wifi reception.September 30, 2010 at 1:06 am #27243twilbrandParticipant@yuuichi wrote:

Really? Wow, I need to get to checking out this “WiiXplorer”. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Then all we need (or would be nice to have) is a wifi strength indicator, unless there is a homebrew app for that already as well.
September 30, 2010 at 11:12 pm #27245rodriesKeymasterWe don’t have a means to get signal strength through homebrew at the moment.
