I been having this problem with WiiMC since mid summer. After about 10-15 seconds, a stack dump screen with show up and freeze the Wii completely, forcing me to hold down the power button to be able to reset my Wii. I tried formatting my SD card and getting a clean card, but it still happens. I figured it might have something to do with my USB drive, but it happens whether or not it or anything else is plugged in to the machine. Other media players, such as Mplayer or Geexbox (ugh) works however without any apparent issues.

Here’s the dump code I’m getting, note that the Wii is not able to reset from here. I’m on the latest Wii update with no modifications to the system, just vanilla homebrew channel and WiiMC on the card:

    It’s an HBC bug.

Delete the no_ios_reload line from the meta.xml for the WiiMC app.

    Thank you!

I realize you aren’t behind the scenes on it, but any clue if HBC will be updated to fix the bug eventually? I been running into some awkward freezes on some apps that worked fine until recent updates.

I actually am behind the scenes, but I still don’t know! It’s in dhewg’s hands currently, he’s supposed to send me some test HBC builds so we can solve the problem.

Oh you work on the actual HBC now? Sorry for being out of the loop then.

Glad to hear there will still be updates. WiiMC has been running for about an hour now without freezing, so looks like you fixed it for me.

    Hmm strange.

Now I’m getting the dump error every time I open any given file. It loads the file then goes into dump screen as soon as it is finished buffering. I didn’t change any settings or add anything new either.

I guess best option is to wait for the HBC update at this point?
