Made a feature request in the tracker to match this post: Issue #321 – Add option for playback speed.
As an avid subscriber of webcasts, both audio and video based, I often find myself missing playback speed control in WiiMC. On my Windows PC, I often use WMP, or VLC, to watch webcasts at 1.4x – 2.0x playback speeds. This is a huge time saver, and still keeps the webcast viewable/listenable.
I don’t know if the Wii’s hardware might limit such a feature, especially in light that most webcasts are now encoded using H.264/MP4-AP instead of Xvid/MP4-SP. A saving grace is that not many speed settings are needed. WMP and VLC provide up to 16x & 32x respectively, but all that is really needed is 0.5x, 1.0x, 1.4x & 2.0x playback speed settings.
I hope this feature can be added in the next release.
