So close!!!
At first i thought it was just impossible to use a NTFS partition to play DVD Isos on WiiMc.
Then i installed the cIOS USB2, just for kicks, and bam, WiiMC suddenly reads my NTFS partition. That was pretty amazing.
Unfortunally some problems prevented me from actually see the movie, like:
– First things first, it was impossible to navigate the DVD menu. On screen cursor never reached the menu options, and there wasnt any way to navigate through it using any buttons.
Maybe map the DVD navigation to the nunchuck is a good idea. More buttons, more analogic stick, people with enough patience to put a DVD iso into an HDD sure wont see any problems in pluggin a nunchuck.– The dvd menu lacks a “loop” function, meaning, the menu will move on to other parts of it (like set up, or choose a scene) if you leave it rolling.
– The only way to actually reach the movie was to A) leave the menu rolling for 5 minutes or b) Try to fast forward it and hope it wouldnt crash. Well yeah, it is crashing when fast forwarding. A lot.
– Then i reached the movie. I wanted to imput the english subtitles, but funny enough only the spanish subtitles would show up on the screen. No matter how many times i pressed the D-pad, it was spanish or nothing (and yes, the dvd did had english subtitles).
Maybe an on screen indicator of subtitles/audio track could solve this.– After a few seconds of movie there was a bizarre clicking sound in the background. I tried at least four times and the clicking sound always starts. Never in the same spot, but always after a little time of movie rolling. The sound is constant, same level as the movie audio.
– Once again, crashing a lot when fast forwarding of going backwards.
Anyway, that´s it. Its sooo close!
I dont know, for me the ability to watch DVD Isos out of my NTFS portable HDD means a lot. -
