I have compiled wiimc svn647, 659, 661 (latest as I am writing) and tried to play an mkv movie clip.
The same file can be played on mplayer ce 0.77 r600 smoothly. However, in wiimc aforementioned builds and also in the official release 1.1.0, the file can be played, however, it’s not smooth at all, esp when there are lots of actions on the screen, it’s becoming unbearably sluggish.
I see Rodries and Tantrics are also co-authors in mplayer ce, so what’s change to make this happen? Is there anything that I can try to make the mkv files to play smoothly in wiimc?
Thanks for listening.

and attach it to a bug report using the development/tracker/new task tabs above.
I can then test it here too.October 30, 2010 at 10:44 pm #27446stickmanParticipant@jhb50 wrote:

I was searching for positions with more intensive action scenes, however, it does not work with positions other than position 0, otherwise the resulting mkv file cannot be played by any video player. So I created the file with start position at 0, I tested it can be played on my pc.

That’s what I suspect. Thanks.

My experience with WIIMC is that the audio on these AVC’s goes out of sync and gets progressively worse as width increases beyond 640, and as they get up to the 1200 range they become jerky. I’d love it if they would play correctly but I had given up hope that WIIMC could do this. Now if MPlayerCE can play them there is no reason why WIIMC cannot do as good a job, so I would consider your report as a legitimate bug.

Thanks a lot Tantric. I have tested with the svn672 and svn681(the newest as I am writing), it worked great.
Several things to notice though:
1. I took the settings out in metal.xml before, because it had problem recognizing my hdd. But wiimc refuse to start up in my recent svn builds, it came up with an error: AHBPROT is not enabled (or set). I searched around, found out in the HBC 1.0.7 document, that is required for AHBPROT. So I put it back in, it seems like my HDD is recognized again with this settings in.
2. In my settings, the Start Area somehow was set to be DVD, which came up with an error, I keep click the cancel button and it took a while before I can switch to other area.
Other than that, everything works great.
