I am unable to find any information about the settings.xml file that WiiMC apparently saves its settings to. When I try loading the newest version of WiiMC (which is the only version I have ever used) I get an error immediately after opening that says “error saving file” with options to retry or cancel, retry just generates the same error, and cancel shows me another message, “could not save settings to sd1:/apps/wiimc/settings.xml. I am confused because there was no settings.xml that was included in the download from this site. and I have not found anyone else having this problem, please help me.

The settings.xml file is generated by WIIMC with default values, or the values you have changed in settings mode. It is then written out to sd1: when you exit the settings menu or exit WIIMC, and read in by WIIMC when you start WIIMC again. I don’t know why it won’t write to your card. Is it possible you locked your card to make it unwriteable?

Well the card I am using does not support locking or unlocking. I have actually thought of the SD Card being the problem so I formated a new card and moved everything over to it, and I still received the same error. So I don’t believe that is the problem. I tried installing the WiiMC forwarder to see if that would make a difference and everything went smooth until I actually opened it up from the forwarder “channel” and about 5 seconds after it loaded I got the error again. I am completely stumped here. I even tried creating an XML file labeled settings.xml just see if WiiMc would output any information to it, and it did not. I am wondering if maybe someone could create a link to their settings.xml so I could download it and put it on my SD Card just to see if it will snap out of it, once it loads with a settings.xml file already populated with correct information. Other that that I am out of ideas here.

Got it, after my last post I Googled WiiMc settings.xml download and sure enough someone had it out there. I loaded it to my SD card and BAM, there it was, thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot with me. maybe this post will help someone else out in the future.
