Ok, so I’ve got 1.0.8 HBC installed, I installed the IOS58 from here http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS58_Installer did all the steps from http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=850&p=4849&hilit=IOS58#p4849 or at least up to the step 14 where I can’t make my wii run the elf file and the only way I figured out I could was still use banner bomb and run the install that way, BUT in doing so it still wanted to use IOS37 and not the freshly installed IOS58. So what can I do to fix this. I’m trying to replace using my PS2 with SMS, and this so far works great for what I want it to do, but still can’t get it to the point of not having to start the wii, load homebrew channel, load wiimc, then load videos. I’m trying to dumb it down to just start wii, load wiimc, load video, to save time for anyone in the house wanting to watch/listen off the fileserver.
Wii is old enough that I was able to use twilight hack and banner bomb, haven’t ever updated it past that really, asides from updating HBC with their autoupdates
January 31, 2011 at 6:31 pm #28418rodriesKeymasterIf HBC wants to use IOS37 when installing then either: you’re not installing the latest HBC, or (more likely), you haven’t installed IOS58 correctly. Try deleting IOS58 using AnyTitleDeleter and reinstalling with the IOS58 installer.

Run anytitle deleter, delete IOS58
Run Ios58-installer from here http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS58_Installer
Run banner bomb
Install HBC and hopefully it will select IOS58edit:
did it in that order
it refuses
January 31, 2011 at 9:36 pm #28420rodriesKeymastera) You’re running the installer for HBC beta 9 from 2008. That isn’t gonna work.
b) Why run from bannerbomb? You can reinstall HBC right from HBC itself. Go download the latest version and read the readme.February 1, 2011 at 12:12 am #28421ktharmsParticipantHaha… oops… see, since I couldn’t get it to run the “update” that was the only way I knew, so after grabbing transmitmii and doing it that way I felt less a nub and saw what I was supposed to have seen in the first place. Also got the lock up on load, but fixed that by using 1.1.2 WiiMC and 1.6 channel installer and bingo, everything works.
NOW… No longer have a use for my PS2, sad day to retire it, old fat that has been the media center running SMS forever off my server, but it was so archaic cause it only played like xvid and divx. Happy days
THANKS! Now time to go watch something 😆
