Like a lot of people it seems, my hard disk was being read perfectly by USB loaders, but I couldn’t get WiiMC to recognise it at all.
After hours of fecking about, I finally found the following method brought me joy. Just sharing in case the same method might bring other people joy…
I’m going to go into specific detail, but the brief suggestion I make is to
1) run a game through your USB loader installed in the system menu (preferably configurable USB loader),
2) mount your game partition in the loader,
3) load a game,
4) hit home to return to your system menu,
5) then load WiiMC forwarder, also from your system menu and hopefully your USB disk will appear, just like magic 🙂
First, I’m using channel forwarder 1.18, accessible from the system menu. I’ve tried using the latest version straight from the SD card, but found it ended in freezing or code dumps.
My hard disk is partitioned into two NTFS partitions. One for music and film, the other solely for Wii games.
An important part of this is Configurable USB loader, for which I have a forwarder to the system menu from my SD card.
I used the modmii app to install it all, but all you should need to know is the following:
Homebrew channel and WiiMC both use IOS58
Conf USB loader uses IOS249, base IOS56 d2x v6
Basically, I went into conf USB loader and mounted my game partition. Loaded a game, hit home to return to the system menu (4.2e), then went into my channel forwarder for WiiMC. Both my NTSC partitions had majestically appeared.
Then, I simply went into WiiMC settings to make sure the path was saved.
Once this was done, I can now turn my Wii on and off, load games etc, but when I choose to access WiiMC forwarder, my path to my movies loads automatically 😀
Anyway, you get the idea. Give it a go and let me know how you get on!
Peace,
