About two weeks ago my wiimc v 1.1.8 lost all its settings, i thought incorrectly this was as a result of an automatic update as the aspect ratio was now working and anything that had been watched was now showing a tick where previously only the very first thing i had loaded in wiimc had had one anyway…
since then it has reset itself at least 5 times twice today.
homebrew and wiimc are both using ios58 and there has been no update of any files directly prior to this issue starting, can anyone help please.
is there a save load settings option in the software btw?

The green tick comes from the restore_points file so if you get them then your SD has been accessed OK so there should be no reason that the settings.xml could not be accessed.
First just try opening settings.xml with explorer to see if it is a valid .xml file with no errors.
Second, try deleting the settings.xml and let wiimc rebuild it.
Third, try reinstalling.August 20, 2011 at 9:05 am #29286mcgreteParticipantre aspect ratio – i had set to auto from some guide i followed originally and it hadn’t worked since (obviously)
green ticks sometimes stay after settings have been lost but mostly they go as well.
have tried all three suggestions now and think i have finally found a common cause.usb loader gx
whenever i or more commonly my daughter have played a game on the wii is when the settings have been lost.
i tested this yesterday and this does appear to be the case.really want to keep using usb loader gx as it has parental controls to stop age inappropriate content from being played (a feature i would love to see implemented in wiimc) so what can i do please????
August 26, 2011 at 11:40 am #29287mcgreteParticipantwas hoping i had identified the culprit, tried upgrading usb loader gx and still losing settings after it is launched so tried wiiflow as well and getting the same thing with that.
is there anybody that can help me troubleshoot this further, there must be something i dont have that others do otherwise i would not be alone with this issue

Have finally got fed up enough to try and get this sorted and can confirm that the settings.xml file is getting corrupted as soon as a game has been played through either usb loader gx or wiiflow
going to do some more testing and updating of this thread now to see if anyone can assist.
im guessing version of HBC and fresh install would be good places to start …
EDIT and it was updated to version 1.08 using IOS58 v 24.32 and no longer getting the problem ❓
