As I have posted http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=224, some AVC/X264 and MPEG-2 TS video files will not play because the WII does not have enough power to decode their high resolutions.

I would like to be able to transcode these videos to a lower resolution on my PC before streaming them to play with WIIMC. MediaTomb is an application provides that in-line transcoding capability along with subtitle support for UPnP clients fed from PC servers, however the WII does not support UPnP.

Does anyone know of another solution? (Perhaps WIIMC can support UPnP?) Currently I use WIIDEO Center to transcode to flv with subtitles and play as Opera Flash however this solution breaks the video into 2 minute chunk and burps as it changes each segment.

With the growing use of these codec by HDTV, BluRay and YouTube It would sure be nice to use WIIMC for everything.

More research here. Seems VLC can transcode and stream according to” Advanced use of VLC’s stream output (transcoding, multiple streaming, etc…)” athttp://www.videolan.org/doc/videolan-howto/en/ch09.html

Has anyone used/tried this and will it work with WIIMC?

OK, I have VLC playing my X264 videos, transcoding them and streaming them to my WII URL. But what protocol should I use and how do I set up WIIMC to receive it and play the stream?
