When I get a video file that the Wii can’t handle, I use ffmpeg to re-encode it down to something that it can. I prefer doign this to encoding-on-the-fly techniques like VLC.
Im wondering….what would be the best configuration to convert to, for the Wii as it is now, with WiiMC?
MPEG2? XVID? I want high quality.
MP3? AC3? Want good audio.
What bitrates, resolutions, and other options would output the best quality file, that WiiMC can play.
This would be locally from USB HD, I know over SMB requires too much for 802.11g to handle.
My first thought would be….
MPEG2 – 720×480 – 29.970fps – 10000kbps
AC3 – 192kbps – 48000hz – stereo
