Hi
I’m finding that my R1 DVDs play nice and smoothly, but whenever I play a R2 DVD the frame-skipping is really high (I can’t measure it, but I’d guess it’s close to 50%). If I disable frame-skipping then it’s smooth, but the audio falls out of synch within seconds and then lags further and further behind. But R1 discs play nice and smoothly (i.e. with far less frame-skipping).
My Wii is a Euro model running at 480p, connected via Component.
I’ve not seen this described elsewhere. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

June 13, 2010 at 4:28 pm #24707rodriesKeymasterNo, everyone.
June 14, 2010 at 10:59 am #24708SpeaphonoParticipantThanks for the reply. Interesting! So all PAL DVD playback is juddery. Surprised I’d not seen anyone else post about that! Apologies if I did miss the other posts though!
Out of interest, is that because of the slightly higher resolution? And, I have to ask, is it on the ‘would like to fix’ list for future releases?
Thanks!
June 14, 2010 at 5:02 pm #24709rodriesKeymasterI’m NTSC and DVDs don’t play well for me. Everything is on the “like to fix” list, but who knows who, when, or how to fix it?
June 15, 2010 at 1:14 am #24710SpeaphonoParticipantYep, of course, I understand! Thanks for the info though. It’s odd that NTSC dvds play consistently smoothly for me, but it’s ‘nice’ to know it’s not just me who’s experiencing issues with DVD playback!
June 21, 2010 at 12:38 pm #24711FreitagerParticipantSame problem here but, I only have PAL DVDs so I don’t know what about NTSC DVDs….
I ‘ve try to change the output format of the Wii but, no result, all my PAL DVD plays jerkily
February 7, 2011 at 10:03 am #24712GondolierParticipantI played a PAL DVD last night with the 1.1.2 on my 4.3E Wii with my TV.
The DVD played nearly fine but something was very strange :
I have a 100Hz Samsung TV with Motion Plus (Samsung’s Motion Interpolation video processing technology). And I don’t see the Motion Interpolation “effect” correctly. It works just a few seconds here and there. The rest of the time, the video seems like without Motion Plus activated. So I thought the problem with PAL DVD was that WiiMC would be launched in 60hz video mode (PAL60 or NTSC60) instead of 50hz (PAL50) which would be necessary for european TV to work correctly.
That may be the cause of the problem for other persons here too.I know that some wii homebrew programs let’s us choose the video mode (like Bootmii) between PAL50, PAL60 or NTSC. Maybe adding something like that in WiiMC would correct the issue for everyone.
Bye!
February 7, 2011 at 3:35 pm #24713rodriesKeymasterWiiMC uses the video mode set on your Wii. If you want to change it, change it there. We’re not adding an option.
