After of update to 1.1.4 version I can’t connect to online media like radio stream or youtube, with 1.1.2 version I dind’nt have this kind of problem. Any idea to solve this problem?
March 24, 2011 at 4:59 am #28491cadbuscaParticipantI have no problem connecting to OLM with 1.1.4.
You might want to post specific links that do not work, but if none of them work then its something other than WIIMC that is the problem.March 24, 2011 at 12:56 pm #28492ybshutmpParticipantI’m having the same problem. Youtube was working fine yesterday (I never tried any of the other online media sources), but today I just get “Error loading file.” for any online media (immediately after clicking Youtube, Shoutcast, whatever. I don’t get any kind of channel selection). And it is NOT something other than WiiMC that is the problem, because every single other program (including Shoutcast stream from some other media player and Youtube through the Internet Channel) is working perfectly. Downgrading to 1.1.2 didn’t help.
edit: With the lower version, it DOES prompt me to update and it DOES successfully download the update. So it’s not a problem with my connection or with WiiMC connecting to the network. But it’s not getting onto my FTP server either, not even a client connected message.
edit 2: “Navi Xtreme Media Portal” DOES work, I didn’t try it before because it sounded awful. And it IS awful, so it doesn’t really help me. And after connecting to it, the OLM menu has 2 entries for it, 2 entries for Shoutcast Radio, 2 entries for Shoutcast Search, and so on for everything. Wow, online media is pretty broken.
March 24, 2011 at 3:27 pm #28493rodriesKeymasterWiiMC’s web host just blocked YouTube and Shoutcast support (which are hosted on wiimc.org) so that’s why it doesn’t work.
March 24, 2011 at 5:25 pm #28494cadbuscaParticipantThe WIIMC support for Shoutcast and YouTube simply consists of scripts that can run on any php server. Many of us have our own php servers setup for VLC-Shares, and so can restore those scripts if the scripts were made available.
Unfortunately access to those scripts has been denied in the past even though this is supposed to be an “open” solution and there is nothing proprietary about such scripts other than the work to write them.
Others have made their “Youtube scripts” for accessing authors and playlists available, just as I have made my enhancement pack available, so in the same spirit it would seem appropriate for WIIMC to make its “YouTube” and “Shoutcast” scripts available as well.
March 24, 2011 at 6:37 pm #28495evil007ParticipantSo, why are they blocking support for this? Is there anything we can do different from our end?
March 24, 2011 at 6:43 pm #28496rodriesKeymasterThey sent an email saying scripts of this nature are against their policy. Until we find a new (and permanent) host you’re out of luck.
March 24, 2011 at 6:54 pm #28497evil007ParticipantCan we obtain the scripts and run them ourselves as you suggested. Who did all the work for this?
March 24, 2011 at 7:02 pm #28498rodriesKeymasterThe scripts must run on a web server, and I think the majority of WiiMC users won’t want to run their own web server for this purpose. And no, the source for the scripts will not be made available.
March 24, 2011 at 7:31 pm #28499cadbuscaParticipantOK folks this is not rocket science. How about one of you php knowledgeable people develop a youtube script for the rest of us to use. There are already youtube scripts for wiimc that can serve as a starting point.
Here is an extract from my “Guide to Using WIIMC’s YouTube Support” with those posts.User Contributions

Jay.March 25, 2011 at 3:29 pm #28501cadbuscaParticipantI have my YouTube scripts almost working and will post them soon. In the meantime set up VLC-Shares so you will have a server to run them. Shoutcast is a different problem. You need a developers licence to access its playlists. You can however copy specific shortcuts off http://www.shoutcast.com in the form http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=1711239 and add them to onlinemedia.xml
March 25, 2011 at 6:30 pm #28502fsantaniParticipantI wish that politics wouldn’t have prevented the use of such a good open source application. I installed it an used it for 2 days before they blocked it! There were over 100,000 downloads of this app. Hopefully someone finds a new permanent web host or developes new scripts to use.
