We can currently resume play on a video, but unless I’m missing something obvious, we can’t easily re-start a video from the beginning. (During playback, we can rewind the video by clicking on the left edge of the playback navigation control bar but it is extremely difficult to hit 0:00, meaning we also then have to hit the Left button). Being able to start at 0:00 with the absolute minimum of button presses would be a good improvement to WiiMC.
My scenario: I frequently start up a new video that I’ve just added to a network share to let it play for a few seconds to test it (often skipping ahead part way to make sure the audio remains in synch), prior to watching it later by myself/with family/friend — nothing’s worse than “oh.. sorry the movie I told you we were going to watch tonight is… not working (too much buffering, audio slip, wrong language, needs subs, etc). 90% of the time the video seems to play properly so I hit the ‘Home’ button to return back to the Menu. Of course, when I want to watch it later, WiiMC thoughtfully ‘remembers’ where I left off… not realizing that I would prefer instead to start at the beginning!
Suggested ways to deal with this issue:
1. At the bottom of the Video Menu screen, add a ‘Restart’ item just to the left of the ‘Resume’ text, which will play the video from 0:00.
2. Add a ‘Rewind to Start’ icon ‘|< ' to the playback navigation bar.
ie: “|< << > >>”
Thanks!
