Good afternoon, and thanks for providing such a great platform.
However, I have had some trouble with retail movie DVDs I have been trying to play on my Wii. For some DVDs, especially older DVDs, I cannot use the menu at all. For other DVDs, it takes ages to load. Other DVDs will not load at all but instead say invalid disk.
Once I get the movie running, if I can, it runs alright (for what I’ve done so far testing), but it take a lot more hassle than I’d like just to get to that point. Is there anything I can do to help, or is this just part of the WiiMC experience?
Stats so that you might be helped:
Type of Wii: Bought at launch in November, 2006
Modifications? None. I have never had to send my Wii in to get fixed. I have not chipped my wii either.
System Update: 4.3, only installed homebrew and homebrew channel today
IOS: The latest on, 58? Whatever one that’s plastered everywhere that says it’s required. Thanks for your help. Does it make a difference whether I launch WiiMC from the HBC or from the Channel loader? I don’t see why it would, but I can check.

Same problems, it’s not a dvd drive or disk problem. It seems WiiMC caches, takes 3 minutes then to just show the a dvd menu. This has been the same on all versions including 1.2
September 5, 2011 at 3:30 pm #29250rodriesKeymasterThis is because WiiMC has to decrypt the CSS for the DVD and this can take some time. If you want a better experience, use a real DVD player.
