Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle… *pose*

Straight to the point…

I’ve been using Winamp for god knows how long, and one of the many things I like about it (and many other mainstream media players, though not to the same extent and perfection Winamp has… at least, in this area) is the way the program handles shuffling files around. Lemme try and explain myself a bit further:

Let’s say, my playlist has 5 songs in it (a, b, c, d and e). Now, when I shuffle and play them in Winamp, it would play like this, for example:

C, E, B, D, A

Then it would stop (unless I had Loop on, in which case, after A, it would, well… loop).

Now, the way WiiMC handles the same playlist with Shuffle on would be something like this (example):

C, E, C, B, B, D,C, A, E… and it would somehow always end up playing for ever (even if loop was not enabled) until it were manually stopped. But that’s not my point.

See, what I’d like to see implemented here is the way Winamp shuffles the music around. Instead of randomly picking files from the playlist, regardless of wether they’ve been played once or not, it would be nice if WiiMC would pick files randomly only ONCE, until every song in the playlist has at least been played once, then if Loop where enabled, to start the playlist over again and play it in random order (again, only playing any given song ONCE until every other song in the list had played).

I dunno if I explained myself clearly, but in case someone did not understand, I would gladly explain it once more.

Nope, I don’t think it does. That’s the whole point of me posting this request -__-;; This is one of those things that just glares at me when ever I set it to shuffle music.

You wouldn’t believe how many times in a small space of time I’ve heard Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” while shuffling throuhg a playlist of around 500 songs. Cool song, but I’d like a little more variety (hence why I ask for a better shuffling feature).

Yes you are correct. The code shows that it only avoids playing the same title twice in a row. It an easy patch though to make it play all the titles before repeating tha shuffle.
