    Hi guys,

thanks for the WiiMC, absolutely fantastic – looks and works (almost 😉 great!

The problem I have involves a dd-wrt Linux based router running Samba 2 /3.x – which my Wii seems to incapable of reaching via smb shares :/ – the network connection is fine, as I can reach other network folders shared from Windows machines/Macs.

Furthermore, all of the Samba configs I have tried do work with my Mac, I can connect from it using smbclient both as a guest and as a registered user – but the WiiMC seems to oppose my now 6 hours-long attempts to get this to work 🙂 – so I guess it has to be some nasty Samba configuration quirk that’s keeping me from going to sleep at 2 a.m. 😉

I have used pretty much every configuration setting I could think of (i.e. mentioned somewhere before security = USER), to no avail.
Samba logs remain empty, so there’s nothing to start from. 🙁

Therefore I’d like to ask anyone who has managed to get a Linux-based smb shares to work with WiiMC to share his smb.conf file – as I have (at least for today) completely run out of ideas.
    Thanks!

Here’s what I would try if it was me:

Turn the SAMBA logging to the highest level
    Set SAMBA to port 445
Make sure SAMBA is using NLTM, not LM or NTLMv2
    Set to user-level security
Set up a user with a non-blank password

I’m sure someone else will have a few other suggestions.

Hey, I got my smb shares working with pretty much the standard settings.
Just make sure you actually created a user in the smbusers file that matches the one specified in WiiMC. Don’t even try using a guest user. Also WiiMC requires a static IP.

    This worked for me.
    THANKS!
