I have a d-Link DNS-323 set up with SMB and FTP shares. For the life of me, I can’t get WiiMC to using protocol. I’ve tried everything I can think of and now I’m wondering if this just isn’t possible.

    Any thoughts?

It is possible. I’ve personally set one of those up for WiiMC.

Any additional thoughts on how to make it work for me? Do you have any idea what firmware version the NAS was running?

I’m running 1.06. I don’t see that there are any major changes up to the current 1.09 firmware except they added NFS support. I don’t think that’ relevant though.

I’ve confirmed other Mac machines can access the share with the same username and password as set in WiiMC. On the Mac’s the path is smb://192.168.11.10/Main_Share

So in WiiMC I’ve set the ip to 192.168.11.10 and the share to Main_Share.

Just to see if it would work, I tried this with MPlayer-CE as well. It also couldn’t connect so I’m pretty sure that this is some issue with my particular system.

i had the same problem with my mybook world, because it runs on linux changes had to be made on it on it,these changes were done http://www.gregledet.net/?p=347 ,don’t ask me on how to do it because i dint do it myself, but now it works perfect, but my guess is your nas runs on linux aswell and simular changes have to be made.
