Hi
I’ve really enjoyed using WiiMC but i’ve run into an issue that seems very unique. Any and all movies I try to load stop after a certain amount of time and drop me back to the file selection screen. I tried increasing the buffer and even using MPlayer CE but the movies still stop playing at the same place like the movie is over.
I checked the files on my computer and they play all the way through.
Thanks.
Edit: I just checked Windows media player and while it played fine there, the point that it stops at is 40 minutes precisely.
Edit2: Okay, I’ve done some more extensive testing and have found that when the movie kicks out seems to be different each time, and different movies break at different times too.
Here’s some more info about my setup. Since my Wii is one that can’t play dvds I’ve wanted to to create the files so that they completely preserve the quality so I’ve been using iso files created using dvdShrink. Following a method mentioned by another post I’ve slightly altered WiiMC so that it can recognizes isos.
Since my main objective is to have the original dvd quality preserved I thought isos would be the best route, but if there is another I would love to know, as my attempts at alternative formats have led to less than desirable results.
Thanks again
May 9, 2010 at 9:20 pm #25351arrimaelispParticipantWell I just tried v 1.0.2 and it seems that things are working worse than before. Before the files would play at least part the way through, now my wii freezes when I try to play them.
June 1, 2010 at 3:54 am #25352blueplanetParticipanti’m havning the exact same problem. with all three versions of wiimc, and yes i do have iso202 from this site installed, mplayer ce used to work just fine, but it is doing the same thing with the movies as well, just stopping after random times. tried to reinstall a different version of iso202 and then it wont read usb drive or dvd’s, so i’m back with the one from here, at a loss, any help, suggestions?
June 2, 2010 at 11:17 pm #25353AnonymousInactiveI got the same problem sometimes, is this normal to happen?
June 4, 2010 at 12:58 am #25354cadbuscaParticipantIs this still a problem with 1.0.4? Please post if it happens to you on 1.0.4 with details of file used, so others can try and replicate and report as bug.

June 26, 2010 at 3:38 am #25356blueplanetParticipantsorry it’s been so long, but yes, it does happen with v1.04, and it doesn’t matter what file i play, everything seems to do it.
June 26, 2010 at 4:48 am #25357cadbuscaParticipantPista seems to know about this. All I can say is that the MPlayer code has been updated in the development code so hopefully the problem will be resolved in 1.0.5.
July 25, 2010 at 2:52 am #25359blueplanetParticipanthello again, i’m still having the same problem with random freezings, not sure what to fix this, v 1.0.5 was worse than previous versions, freezing every few minutes, while v1.0.6 still has freezing but as often, more like every 10 -20 minutes. i’d love to get this resolved, will post additional info if needed. thanks.
July 25, 2010 at 3:27 am #25358cadbuscaParticipantMovies are not just movie files..there are may different combinations of video and audio encodings and each one uses a different program (codec) to play each part of it, so when it doesn’t play, fixing it needs to know where to look. For example, all my different format movies play fine except avc/aac .flv files with one audio channel. They crashed. The bug was in the one channel decoding now fixed in the last SVN. So when people say all my movies don’t play, it doesn’t mean much unless they are all of the same format (unlikely). And since all my different movies play fine, I don’t buy it.
But if your movies don’t play and you want someone to fix it then you need to get Mediainfo and post the information it provides and perhaps even a few megs off the front using Partcopy so someone can diagnose it. No point in telling the doctor that you hurt unless you can tell what part hurts and present that part for examination!July 25, 2010 at 6:47 pm #25360blueplanetParticipantmy movie files play, they just randomly stop or freeze using wiimc. and no they are not all the same format, and i do understand how a movie file works. it doesn’t not matter if it’s .avi, .mpg, .mpeg, whatever. they all do it, yet i have no problems playing them on my computer. it’s not the movies, it’s the player. for what purpose should i analayze the movie files when i could play any compatible file and have the same outcome of random freezing/stopping.
July 25, 2010 at 8:34 pm #25361cadbuscaParticipantAnd you can use resume to restart them where they stopped?

no, i have to reselect the file and it starts from the begining again.

Yeah but just bitching that things don’t work is totally unhelpful.
July 25, 2010 at 11:31 pm #25364cadbuscaParticipantWell since all of your movies do it on both WIIMC and MPLAYER-CE it can’t be the WIIMC player since they are different players.. You will have to look at other aspects of your system. Pick a file, analyse it to verify it is fully WII compatible, then play it from different sources to see if the problem is specific to any of them. Others who have moded the WII as you have at least with 202 have had problems like this..some reported here .. http://code.google.com/p/mplayer-ce/issues/detail?id=541. I have no mods and all my movies which are WII compatible play fine. Looks to me like your problem is movies don’t play on the WII rather than on WIIMC.
