I see that size is a key consideration. I also know that font.ttf that you currently use is only 34kb. So I assume these will be far too big, but at least will get the discussion going…

Code2000 (3.0mb) – US$100.00 – Server/Web site (embedding) registration fee (I don’t know if that counts, perhaps he’d give you a deal… I don’t htink that would be too hard to raise!)

TITUS – also looks promising (see wikipedia page above), but includes the term, “I declare that I will be using the font for non-commercial purposes only and that I will not give it on to any third parties.“, which I guess is prohibitive. The basic version (2mb) looks to include hindi and a few other languages. I could not find the extended version.
