I’ve got a Western Digital MyBook Essential 3TB drive. If I open WiiMC with with it plugged in, WiiMC crashes (DSI Exception). The same goes for the usb test app. I’m not sure what the exact error is since it only stays up for a second. I’m happy to provide more info or try any suggestions.

Weird, try to reinstall ios58 (http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS58_Installer) then try to reinstall hbc to use that ios
Now try the usb test appDecember 28, 2010 at 8:03 pm #27684ASTUR2000Participant@rodries wrote:

I tried your suggestions, plus a few other combinations e.g. upper and lower usb port, on/off switching and/or unplugging of the HDD, increase of the waiting time (up to 30 secs), with and without USB-LAN Adapter. Unfortunately the results are always the same as in my previous log. I am using an Icy Box IB-250StU enclosure with an SAMSUNG HM250JI HDD inside.

This external hard drive don’t work with WiiMC 1.1.1December 29, 2010 at 11:41 am #27688aka107Participant@safirion wrote:

Your device has 2 logical units (GetMaxLUN: 2) maybe we need to mount the second logical unit instead the first one.
Test this wiimc beta & post results: http://www.mediafire.com/?og5w9l4h9dc4r11vorticerosso,pallbearer,boondoklife use new ust test app with problematic devices and report please.

http://www.wiimc.org/files/USB%20Test%201.8.zipI don’t know if my external hard drive worked on previous version since I got it for Christmas.
With this beta version of WiiMC, I have to unplug my external hard drive first, and I reconnect it to be recognized. But it works fine.

Your device is not detected by the wii
USB_GetDeviceList. device_count: 0
Are you using power supply?
When you plug your device the wii can’t detect it, I’ve only seen this when an usb device need an external power supply@boondoklife wrote:

Ok, I think your device is fixed now

With this beta version of WiiMC, I have a loading screen at startup of WiiMC, I hear my hard drive reboot but it is not recognized. It is not recognized either if I disconnect and reconnect I.
EDIT : I use the usb 2.0 on my wii. I just tested my hard drive by plugging it into the USB 1.0 port (top) and is then recognized by WiiMC.
EDIT2 : My hard drive is recognized by randomly WiiMC (on the port usb 2.0 or 1.0) …

Altough im very sure my drive gets enough power, i can hear the HDD spin-up and both LEDs (power & data) are flashing, i already thought this might be an issue and tried the drive with an external power supply. Unfortunetly i get the same results.
P.S.: my drive does not have a real external power supply, but a second usb cable that i plugged into the upper wii usb port. I hope this is not an issue?!

Both ports are usb2
loading screen? are you launching wiimc from the channel? Do you have the wiimc installed in the usb or in the sd?
The channel is not updated with last usb changes.
All tests have to be done using HBC & sd if possible
When all problems are fixed then a new channel will be createdDecember 29, 2010 at 8:22 pm #27696young007linkParticipantI put WiiMC on my SD card and I use the HBC for the launch. 😉
