My situation, we currently have our computer hoked up to our Tv and watch movies and shows from it(we cannot afford cable), but due to rising electricty costs and failing hardware I was looking for an alternative this was the first choice a WD TV Live box but I though I already have a Wii there has to be a way to do this with it. So over the last few days it has been getting used to Homebrew and copying my videos over to an external drive.
So tonight I finally finished copying the files but have come across a problem. Playlists. We used to have playlist in each of our movie folders or for certain files/shows. But I cannot see those files under WiiMC, my searching the last few hours has come up with nothing as well. Only info I could find was not good info from here. Which says they are hidden due to how they point to files I understand this but is easily fix by editing the paths in the playlist files(at least on a PC). So is there a playlist type I can use for my movies or am I better off tying Wii Linux with VLC(what we use on our PC) or shelling out the $100 for the WDTV box.
Thanks for any suggestions.

IMHO playlists make sense for short files like music songs and youtube videos, but not for long playing files like videos. The WIIMC Autoplay option” should be sufficient for most needs like sequential series kept in a series subdirectory and named appropriately.

For instance we have one of my child’s TV shows all 3 seasons ripped to 3 different sub directories. Instead of playing just from one season I want to combine the three seasons in a play list or just a playlist for one season, or a playlist for all my childs cartoons not just that one season. To go along with this there is no Randomize function I can see, but I could over come this with a folder containing randomly generated playlists. I see from other posts that playlists were supported. Is this now a lost cause, am I better looking for something different.

The only option is to put the vids you want in one subdirectory and turn on the autoplay next video option. The randomize would have to be done by manually putting a prefix on the filenames.
