Thanks for the positive feedback from everyone.

wasabisun : I’m glad to hear that it merges and compiles correctly under SVN753 (not 573). I have only tested up to SVN742 which is the level I released.

mylbee : If you followed the instructions and copied the apps/wiimc directory to apps/wiimc-plus, then it will contain the subfont.ttf file required for the subtitles. If you chose instead to keep the compiled dol in another subdirectory and the required application files (setup.xml, onlinemedia.xml etc) in apps/wiimc-plus where they are now required to be then the subfont.ttf file must be there as well. See the instructions: “In order to keep the WIIMC+ Enhanced Version separate I have hardcoded it to use the subdirectory “appwiimc-plus” so if you are upgrading from WIIMC or if you are not currently using appswiimc-plus for WIIMC+ files, you must copy your latest application files (settings.xml, onlinemedia.xml, savedlinks.xml, restore_points, SUBFONT.TTF, the css directory, and the music playlists (see next point)) to “appswiimc-plus” so they will be available to WIIMC+ once compiled and installed.”

boondoklife: I should modify 39) in the instructions to state “The current Audio Delay will be reset to zero each time Audio Delay mode is entered by toggling the B button. This allows any adjusted Audio Delay to remain in effect when you click the B-Button again to return to normal mode for ff/rew or when resuming a video after terminating play with the “Home” button and when playing consecutive videos such as You Tube which exhibit similar de-sync, but reset to zero on demand by clicking the B-button twice. If the standard WIImote Rumble option is set to “ON”, the Wiimote will also rumble when entering Audio Delay mode and when the Audio Delayis adjusted back back to 0. Note that the rumble will continue until the Wiimote points at the screen and the progress bar displays.”

    — So if we dropped out automatically after a few seconds, the ability to further fine tune the Audio Delay setting will be lost. And an OSD would require another button to turn OSD off and on. Seems to me easy to remember that you requested and are in “Audio Delay” mode, especially when it rumbled. If you have trouble remembering then always click B to return to normal mode yourself immediately after adjusting the Audio Delay. And if you are in Audio Delay Mode but really wanted to skip, then click the left button after the right button did not skip and then toggle the B button to return to normal mode.

    — Lastly the (<-B) is meant to emulate the normal browser left arrow back button and to indicate that B will take you back <- otherwise there is no indication of what "B" is for.

    — Also the AutoPlay Next Video is a standard feature and I would expect it to work on any drive listing including Data DVD.

One final note.. I am sure there will be crashes with these mods since some are getting to be complex. The only solution is to shut down and restart but if you can create repeatable error sequences and I will attempt to repair them.

Ahh I did not have the rumble on so I didn’t feel it, but now that you have explained it I’m good.

On a side note, why not use icons that are a little more descriptive to the status of the files? For example, a pause symbol (yellow would be nice) to denote paused files/folders and a check mark (red) to denote played files/folders? This would give a little more differentiation to the status icons. Note: I did not mention green as it is already used by the currently playing icon.

So far so good and no crashes, been using it all day to youtube sesame street! My munchkin loves it.

I stayed with green check marks to retain compatibility with WIIMC. As you have probably noticed, I have made an effort not to modify WIIMC but to only build upon what is there. I hope you used the “Autoplay next YouTube” option and sorted them by “name” which usually creates a logical sequence before starting the sesame playback?

Yup, I get a few hiccups in caching on some of the videos in the high setting but it works great. I hope Tantric and crew move some of these features into the regular build!

Also the question I had about the DVD auto play was cause it did not do it for me at first, rebooted the wii and all was fine (not sure what changed but it works).

I am just having massive trouble trying to get this compiled under Ubuntu. I can’t figure out where to find exactly which libraries from devkitPRO I need to get, nor in what hierarchy to put them (because that updater program is not for Linux), and I also don’t understand how I’m patching it–do I patch BEFORE or AFTER getting the boot.dol file of WiiMC? If before, I need help because I’m getting HUNK errors with patch -p and the apply patch option of a clone of TortoiseSVN made for Linux (RabbitVCS). If after, can’t I just apply it over my existing WiiMC files?

Basically, I’m completely lost. I think what I really need here is a step-by-step guide for Linux, because that guide for Windows is extremely unclear and hard to follow if you’re not just doing it step-by-step like a robot, which I can’t do in Linux because the guide was made for Windows.

Cadeyrn: I am just a windows user with no affiliation with the developers. I published the windows guide to document what has worked for me, but I have no knowledge of Linux. You could post in other threads that talk about Linux compiles.

It should be clear from the Guide that the patch is applied to the WIIMC SVN source code using Turtoise and then compiled to create an enhanced dol. It has nothing to do with the standard downliaded WIIMC dol.

To be honest: I’m using Windows, but I can’t get the compiling thing to work. I get dozens of errors, that some path is invalid, some file is missing, or what the heck, I don’t know. Sometimes all seems fine, but I still don’t get what I want: A compiled enhanced DOL. So after several attempts with several version of everything, I am at a point where I just said: I’ve had it, forget about this compile stuff, I’ll stay with the standard WiiMC. I don’t waste anymore time with configuring, reinstalling, deleting, editing, searching errors, I’ve just had it!

Really, I’ve followed the guide step by step over and over again, bothered friends with that issue, and so on, but I just don’t get it right, although I’m a programmer (for Windows) – so I know well about strings, booleans, parameters, classes, function, procedures and all the stuff – and helping a lot of friends with their PCs when they’re in trouble. And YES: My Windows is configured properly and the machine is stable as hell; all other tools I use are running as they should.

But there is just one question I can’t figure out: Why can’t anybody just post an already compiled enhanced DOL? Or why can’t the normal release just already include the enahncements as well?

Jense..your post makes no sense..hundreds of users have the patch..and as the compile guide thread shows..people who have had problems explain them and get resolutions for their problems. You have never posted any problem or error message or asked for any help. There is no need to know anything “about about strings, booleans, parameters, classes, function, procedures and all the stuff”. Those that have precisely followed the simple steps in the guide and the enhancement pack release seem to have had no problem. Perhaps you are using the original guide that has gone thru a number of updates as the WIIMC requirements have changed.

The WIIMC authors allow and support the posting of patches, but the distribution of a .dol creates a derivative version of the application that would then require support that I cannot provide. The requirement to compile also implies that the user of WIIMC+ has a degree of skill that will allow them to utilize these enhanced features without support or further explanation. As you can see from the few posts there has been little need for further assistance.

There is nothing wrong with using standard WIIMC, but if you want to unleash the full capability of a MediaCenter why not post what you have done and your errors in the Compile Guide thread and ask for help?

Hi jhb: I know that lots of users are fine with patching WiiMC via the guide. But I don’t know where I’m going wrong when I follow the guide myself, or whatever may cause those error messages. And I’m tired of trying to figure it out by explaining to someone what I did, google around, re-read the guide-thread or your included documents delivered with the patch – or letting someone explain to me what I should try or do next. No offense. It’s not your fault, and I know that. 🙂

But all in all it’s like that: I doesn’t work for whatever reason, and don’t have any more patience for that; so I stick with “WiiMC Normal”. Of course “WiiMC Normal” ist absolutely great – no doubt about it, I love this app.

I want to excuse myself if my previous post may have sounded a little rude – that was NOT my intention. All I wanted to explain is: Sometimes this guide may, although it’s written very good, not lead to success, and I liked to know why there isn’t just an already compiled WiiMC+-DOL, that someone just compiled and likes to share with the others. 🙂

Oh this has to be compiled to a Dol to use it. Hmm not sure if I will be capable of doing it. I still want to try, but ya seems like I will have issues.

What’s difficult? Follow the steps. If you can mod the WII you can compile a patch.

    Hi jhb50,
is there going to be enhancement pack for 1.1.2? I’ve tried to merge v5 to wiimc trunk but there are too many conflicts 🙂

    Thanks!
