Starting with one of the more recent versions, WiiMC stopped recognizing my USB hard drive after the first time I loaded the app. Previously I never had a problem, and I still don’t with every other Homebrew Channel app that uses my USB hard drive. But when WiiMC stopped recognizing it, as if it wasn’t plugged in, I deleted the app from my SD and reinstalled it. It would recognize my USB hard drive just fine the first time, but every subsequent time I load WiiMC, it doesn’t see it. The same thing happens every time I uninstall/reinstall, with every version from 1.2.0 up through the current 1.2.4, they all do it now.
How can I get WiiMC to recognize my USB hard drive like it used to? I’d rather not use one of the other Wii media players, if at all possible.

Very curious. I installed MPlayerCE so that I could have some sort of media player on my Wii, and it recognizes my USB hard drive just fine. I then decided to give my currently installed WiiMC 1.2.4 another shot, immediately after watching something from my hard drive through MPlayerCE, and it recognized my hard drive! Suspicious that the same old problem would crop back up, though, I exited WiiMC and then reloaded it. Whereas previously it would not see my hard drive, this time it gave me an error message along the lines of “Could not find usb1:/”. So I hit retry, and it found it just fine. And now it has no trouble at all seeing my hard drive.
So, I guess it’s fixed? Not sure what happened, or if it will happen again, but at least I can continue using WiiMC.
