It would be nice if the music control would use wiimote buttons the same way video playback is. Thank you so much for this wonderful app.
November 10, 2010 at 3:52 pm #26962RcDABOParticipantYes, it’s an absolutely needed feature, I would love to switch off the TV, listen the audio on the HiFi connected to the Wii and control the playback with Wiimote.
November 10, 2010 at 4:23 pm #26963cadbuscaParticipantWhat buttons do you want to change? I have patched WIIMC to use the +/- buttons for volume control and they work great. Are there others that need changing?
November 10, 2010 at 9:04 pm #26964RcDABOParticipantjhb50: I think the same controls like during video playback would be great under audio too. Direction left/right: previous/next song on the playlist, A: pause/resume, +/-: volume (with 1.1.0 for me they work only during video).
I know that using direction buttons for this can cause confusion and problems, especially with classic controllers as they are used in navigation in the file browser. That’s why it would be cool to have some buttons user configurable in settings. Or any other solution would be welcomed to control the music playback “blindly”.
November 11, 2010 at 2:30 am #26965cadbuscaParticipantUnder video the left/right buttons jump forward and back and under music the left restarts the song and the right goes to the next song in the playlist. I don’t see a need to jump forward in a song or jump back to the previous song.
Under video the up/down buttons change audio and subtitle tracks but under music they are used to move the browser bar up and down.
Under video the +/- buttons change volume and I have changed them to do the same in music mode, but the WIIMC developers have advised that they will not do the same.
Under video the A button will toggle pause but under musi it is used to select the browser entry.
The only controls left are the single play/continuous play/loop play I don’t see the need to put these on buttons.
So I’m left wondering what it is that you would like to change?

My problem is that for me, in 1.1.0, when listening audio, the buttons doesn’t do what you write.
“Left/right” do page up and page down on the file list. “Up/down” buttons also controls the file list: one file up, one file down. The “1” and “2” buttons are switching through breadbox functions: video-music-picture-online-settings. “B” jumps to the root of the file structure, “A” selects an item in the file list, “+/-” does nothing.If I would able to configure the button layout for myself, I would set “+/-” for volume, left/right for restart song and jump to next song (just like you said), and I would set “B” for pause/play. I hope I made it clear now.
Anyway, the restart song button why can’t jump to previous song, if I press it twice?

Wiimote range is great and works very well in other rooms and such.
So if your not in front of your TV you cannot control music playback.Maybe up/down to browse thru the song (great for audiobook/podcasts) and left/right to play last /next song.
1 to toggle the cover? 2 to toggle screensaver:)
December 9, 2010 at 2:43 am #26968cadbuscaParticipantYes I was incorrect about the current buttons.
Perhaps this would work:
While Holding the B Button:
Right = jump to next song
Left = jump to last song
Left then Right = Restarts song
Up = Cycle modes
Down = Toggle Pause/PlayDecember 10, 2010 at 1:14 am #26969julian-bdParticipant@jhb50 wrote:

We need a beta patch to get that? Am I the only one that use WiiMC to listen to music? Anyways I am happy It does play music!!! I just wish i could pause it from another room if the phone rings or something… which i can do if it would be a music video…
December 10, 2010 at 2:38 am #26970rodriesKeymasterWhat I would like to see is a “full-screen” music mode. Then there could be a toolbar and the buttons would be mapped like it’s suggested here. In the background visualizations could be shown.
Why hasn’t this happened? Because someone needs to write working visualizations code. shareese started a port of libprojectm – see here – http://code.google.com/p/wiimc/source/browse/#svn/trunk/libs/libprojectM
But it was never finished. If someone ever does get visualizations working, I would happily add this capability.
December 10, 2010 at 6:12 am #26971cadbuscaParticipantExcept that would kill the current ability to watch all your family photos or other photo collections while your music plays in the background.
December 10, 2010 at 4:59 pm #26972rodriesKeymasterNo it wouldn’t. There would be a button to open “full-screen” mode once you’re in the Music tab. The Music tab itself would remain as-is otherwise.
December 10, 2010 at 5:07 pm #26973cadbuscaParticipantGOOD STUFF! I’d like a burning log fireplace to watch while my Xmas music plays!
December 20, 2010 at 6:02 am #26974cadbuscaParticipantBingo!
