I’ve got version 1.1.0 of WiiMC 1.0.8 of HBC running on ios58. Viewing videos over SMB has been working great up until about a week ago. Also quick note, security on my shares is set to “Everyone” with read access. So I did some digging and I found a few solutions: Uninstall the Windows Live Sign-In Assistant, Uninstall one of the system updates (980232 – which has to do with SMB security and which I installed almost immediately prior to SMB breaking), http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=573#p2617 this guy said to open the folder on my PC first. So far none have worked, I can’t for the life of me figure it out. It’s taken the better part of my week scouring forums and I’ve turned up nothing. Maybe someone can help, or has/had the same problem.. My Wii is visible on the network I can ping it everything should be ok but still not workin. VLC-Shares works for the time being but I much prefer SMB, VLC-Shares hasn’t been able to list the contents of my Videos folder (maybe cause they’re in a subdirectory from the folder I’m sharing)

My smb works fine, and VLC-Shares can see all the folders (and their subfolders) that I have setup in VLC-shares, which just happen to be the same ones set-up for smb, but vthe two are unrelated..

I’d really prefer getting down to the bottom of my SMB issues, as for VLC-Shares, possibly timing out? I have a pretty substantial amount of data. Around 214 gig. This is really throwing me for a loop. I had it fixed on Thursday and the following day nothing. I assumed it was me removing the update but this time no go. Can anyone offer up any suggestions? Maybe someone has had this issue themselves and resolved it.
*Edit: Another thought, has anyone toyed with the encryption settings for sharing. Mine is at 128bit defaultNovember 10, 2010 at 1:34 am #27438cadbuscaParticipantBeats me..that update is dated June so I don’t understand why you would get it now. As for VLC-Shares I have the same 250GB of data and no problems. Why not do a System Restore and go back to when it worked?
November 10, 2010 at 10:58 pm #27439BeTmAsTeRParticipantFor me, I started having problems with samba only after upgrading from 1.0.9 to 1.1.0. I have windows 7 32 bit. Once I downgraded to 1.0.9, the problem went away. I actually just showed up here to see if anyone else had this problem. I probably should report this as a bug. Let me know if downgrading fixes it for you – it seems that we have a definite regression here.

November 11, 2010 at 9:40 pm #27442dalekParticipantWow, do I feel sheepish… Ok so apparently my problem was McAfee Security Center had gone rogue and set my network as public. Attempting the other fixes may have also had a hand but I can’t be certain. So thanks guys for being my sounding board =] I appreciate your help
