You can cancel wake up test, I’m trying to fix unplug&plug issue. I want to detect your device properly.aka107Participant@pallbearer wrote:
i tried the channel with the latest beta, and it worked great thanks. I also tried to remove and start wiimc through hbc. I got another DSI Exception http://imgup.co.nz/1051. I do not know if it is related to your changes in the beta
So you have a DSI Exception when you run wiimc hbc & removed, rigth?
It’s strange
Can you retry?
Do you have a usbgecko? (to debug)aka107Participant@Btc wrote:
My External HDD have always worked with wiimc and I also use it with wiiXplorer, usb loader gx, etc.

Just hope they launch soon the new wiimc version with the u64 variable correction of file size in order to be able to play files larger than 4GB 😕
Can you explain when do you have the 4GB problem?
where have you heard the “u64 variable correction” ? link?
Have you tested latest beta on this thread?aka107Participant@pallbearer wrote:

OK reading sector. Device wake up OK!!We have a problem with your device. The only way to activate/initialize it doing an ios reload. In wiimc we can’t do an ios reload because we have tecnical problems in mem2. The only way to use your device in wiimc is deleting in metal.xml in wiimc folder but then you can’t use your dvd (if it’s an old dvd) and your device must be plugged before execute wiimc.
Do you have the channel installed?
Your device must work from channel if you use the last beta on this thread installed on sd and then you will have dvd access too
But you can’t unplug & plug your device.
Please tests my suggestions and commentaka107Participant@pallbearer wrote:

I have run the tests and my drive passed all, including the 20 minute wake up test. For reasons I can’t explain the log wasn’t saved to my sd card. My problem seems to be one that I haven’t seen on here so far.
I am currently using 1.0.9 and my hdd is seen, and works without any issues. With both versions 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 my hdd behaves strangely. When I browse to the hard drive it list all the directories in the root of the drive, but when I try to browse into them only some will work. For example, I can browse my music directory, but when I try to access for example my videos I get and error telling me that there was an error (something like “error loading usb1:/Videos/”). It can clearly see the folder, and v1.0.9 can access it without issues. Yet, it just won’t browse into it. Sometimes the error can take a few seconds as though it is attempting to get into the folder. The working directories just open immediately. The fact that the directories and the files in them work both under 1.0.9 and on my PC lead me to believe that there is no actual problem with the directories or the files in them. I just can’t seem to figure out why some would work and not others, rather than get all or none. I have tried all the obvious things that I can think of, for example file permissions. As far as I can tell everything is ok, and the fact that 1.0.9 can see and play the files without any problem leads me to think that they are.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. I’m not sure if this is a normal usb issue or if its something unique to my drive. I would love to upgrade to the newest version of WiiMC, but for obvious reasons this is quite a limitation.
BTW, the drive I am using is a WD Essential 1TB.
Thanks.

Interesting log
I need you download another test: http://www.wiimc.org/files/USB%20Test%201.11.zip
I’ll get more info about your device config
The trick is that the usb driver read 5 devices, and only the last device can be initiated, but sometimes only read 4 devices then the driver can’t initiate the device.
In this test I’ve added some sleeps to try to fix the detection problem and I’ve added more info in the descriptors.aka107ParticipantOk new test for everyone: http://www.wiimc.org/files/USB%20Test%201.10.zip

Wiimc has been stuck in an endless update loop saying an update was available every time I ran it – but I’m on 1.1.1 .
Also, didn’t recognise my WD Elements 1TB drive although has been working fine with USB pen drives. Geebox does see the drive straight away although the interface is awful 🙄
I downloaded the test version of WiiMC and that hasn’t made a difference although after reading narciso’s post I unplugged and then plugged back in the hard drive’s PSU and WiiMC found it right away.
Not perfect but at least I know there is a way for WiiMC to see my NTFS partition.

I don’t know what to do to initialize your device. I’m going to do a special usb test only for you, testing a lot of combinations. I’ll ping you when I finish that test.

Your log is rigth. I think you have a partition problem with your device. Can you try delete partitions, create partitions again and format?
