BigAlParticipant
My WiiMC doesn’t crash, but after a YouTube video, it does go black for a minute or two–then goes back to the list I was at before watching the clip.
BigAlParticipantI could be mistaken but I think it can’t do YouTube videos (yet) – i.e. a link to the video page – I think you have to link to the .flv file which I don’t think you can do directly into YouTube – might have to download the .flv file and put it somewhere else on the web and link to it there … again, this is just conjecture on my part and I haven’t tested this yet.
BigAlParticipantOh, yeah, I should have actually read the post. Don’t know how I missed that, astroboy. Anyway, I’m not sure of a solution other than putting the DVDs onto a hard drive and playing from that. Perhaps as WiiMC is continually developed, it will have this issue taken care of.
BigAlParticipantwhile i’ve never used the “dop ios” app, there may be something in there that can fix this – might need to search this forum and wiibrew.org for help with that
BigAlParticipantDid you buy your wii recently? I’ve heard (so correct me if i’m wrong) that the newer wii’s disc drive simply can’t read dvd video discs at all (even with dvdx installed from bootmii) / that it’s a hardware issue (again, i could be wrong) – but with WiiMC the alternative is to rip your dvd to video files, put them on a USB drive connected to the wii, and have WiiMC play from that (I was able to do that in mplayer_ce, so I assume it can be done here)
BigAlParticipantNot sure, but maybe instal IOS 202 from this site first: http://wiimc.googlecode.com/files/IOS%20202%20Installer.zip … if you haven’t already … don’t know if that will work for you or not, but worth a try.
BigAlParticipanti cannot replicate that issue on my system (it just worked on mine), so i’m not sure what to do – i wonder if installing IOS202 first (if you haven’t already) would help?? – it’s in the download section of this site: http://wiimc.googlecode.com/files/IOS%20202%20Installer.zip
… if you’re worried about bricking, one precaution you can take is to boot into bootmii and make a NAND backup – (If you have installed bootmii as boot2, go to the last icon in the menu of bootmii and select it. Then, select the icon with the arrow going TO the SD card to make the backup–this can be restored at a later time if need be)
sorry i can’t be of more help
BigAlParticipantJust dowload http://wiimc.googlecode.com/files/WiiMC%20Channel%20Installer.zip
Then, unzip that file – copy the “wiimc-channel-installer” folder into the “apps” folder on your SD card.
Run Homebrew Channel and select “WiiMC Channel Installer”
It does the rest!
BigAlParticipantAh ha! Yes, adding a slash at the end worked.
Thanks, Tantric! You all rule!
