Your missing out on a lot. After you click the globe icon you should have a set of site options come up,like Navi-x,Youtube,and shoutcast.,Sounds like your either missing a file or your Internet connection is no good.Check and make sure your apps/wiimc has a file named “onlinemedia.xml” in it.,

SMB: has nothing to do with this part of it,but you could set one up to test your wii’s ability to Wifi.

1 other thing i have found also. When using the “Watch Directly” option. If you wait until the second buffer message comes up,let it fill until you get about 50-60% then go ahead and click play.Because if your network hangs and it takes too long to fill 100% before you start watching then you exceed the buffer. So it will play for a few minutes, then boot you off. Just like if you pause it for too long,it does the same thing.
hope this makes sense, it works for me.
If it fills to 100% without hanging, then this won’t apply.

If you say the 1.2.7 update helped fix it then you might try a fresh install of wiimc again. Also try rebooting everythnig. ec: wii,pc,and even your internet gateway. Not the router, just the gateway.Sounds more like a connection problem, wifi or internet. I had this problem once, but just with the veetle site.whitch led me to belive it was the site itself having problems.

I just tried both my vlc-share installs with hulu and both seem to be working fine.I’m using the latest v0.5.5 beta with the” MP2v/AC3 over HTTP(ts)” transcode profile for wiimc.Thier is also a newer zend libray thats been out for a few months now.v1.11.11 might help.It seems your up to date with rtmp dump.It also looks like your getting a stream started, just not connecting for some reason. All links in hulu have to be streamed and you can’t use the plus option unless you have an account or real-d.Maybe just bad links,I have found many. Hope this helps some.

Personally,my setup involves just the standard 3 wire RCA cord on a 23″ or so LCD panel. To Where I Wifi to my router, then Wifi to the PC.I save all my videos to my pc as ISO,FLV,Mpeg4.The Iso or image format being the best and i was honestly very impressed at the quality in wich these played back, better than playing the dvd itself in the dvd slot. For the most part the .FLV and .mpeg’s play very good also, but some do loose quality. They are still very watchable.I would suggest you double check your cords and to play with the format in which you are saving your video as.Take a short, good quality video and try to save it in different formats. Then see which comes out on top. Each format have thier pro’s and con’s though.Others might have better luck with another format type than me.

Ok,So we can narrow it down a little. This should rule out the usb device. It sounds more like a problem with the .Iso file itself,or the way it was created.Like i said above you might try different image softwares, image burner works great for me,but i still get stuborn video once in a while.usually not a read error though, instead trouble getting past the main menu.then i just toggle the skip main menu in the video settings.also might try a slower read speed when making the image.some software like nero for instance make thier own type of image and are restricted to how they can be played back.May even have to transcode it into a different format like .avi or mpeg. It might be the video resulution is too much for the wii and need transcoded. Also read about vlc-shares and wiimc+

Just a few things i have ran into

Just my 2cents. It could be a number of different things.some more info would help.like does it read the drive at all.what format is it.ect, ect
Not too sure on poweriso or whatever but i use image burner,But if your using copyrighted dvd’s this won’t help anyways.
You say it doesn’t read or recognize as movie files,What does it recognize them as.

True :,the router ports don’t have to be open,But if your Server has a firewall then they will need to allows the different streaming apps through.they usually come up and ask you to allow or block the first time you try to stream with each one.i have to click allow 3-4 times.once for apache, once for vlc, once for rtmpw, once for sopcast.

not to sure for you because i use windows, but when u bind try to bind all 0.0.0.0 or your local ip.and never 8081 port.also when you stream for the first time with the different streamers you have to go to the sever and allow each one through the firewall.vlc, rtmp, sopcast indivigaly.

Sorry Guy’s,Started up vlc-shares tonight and seen I had pointed v0.5.5b2 to the elder rtmpdump.v2.3.(“I like keeping old files around”). So i switched it to the rtmpdumpv2.4 folder and tried a few hulu’s.So far its doing great. Now i’m back to tweaking it to my Win mobile6.2 phone.Vlc-shares seems to stream to it almost as good as it does to wiimc. Again,Thanx for all the help. And the web app

Thank you @xmarx. I installed the beta and patch.Vlc is now streaming fine.but i seem to have a problem with rtmpdump now.everything was going great until i went to stream hulu.rtmpdump came up on the sever for firewall permission {like it should} then i got error loading with wiimc.after that it seems to have gotten stuck trying to stream, for I could not shut it down through wiimc or the webinterface.everytime i hit browse it would always start on the stream options.i hit shut down stream i don’t kno how many times.finaly had to go to the threadforker and delete the active thread.I will try it again tonight and see if it continue’s to happen.I do have debug files,if you should happen to want them. I like 5.5’s interface because i can lock my phone’s browser to a specific profile and trancode. Its awsome. You have made one of the best media apps i’ve seen so far.
    Thanx for all your help.
