Tantric is right. Many users just want a simple straight forward player, and don’t even use the settings that are available in WIIMC to customize their Wiimc experience. WIIMC+ just adds a whole bunch more settings options to WIIMC to the allow control of and/or ehancement of almost everything else. As such its only going to confuse users who don’t want or need those features.
The beauty of WIIMC is the quality of the code, its openness, and its outstanding support by the development team, which makes it easy for anyone to add on simple enhancements for what they want.
cadbuscaParticipantI had the same requirement so I added that as a mod to mine, and can switch back and forth. Makes it real easy to grab the latest files at the top of the page.
cadbuscaParticipantActually, building on a set of scripts provided by and thanks to “gorgel” for giving me the idea, I have just finished building a php app called “Torrents+” which integrates with and is driven by WIIMC using my additional mods. It requires the availability of a php server on your pc just like VLC-Shares and my previous “YouTube+” application.
“Torrents+” gives full access to lists of the newest, most popular and recently uploaded movies, access to info about any of those movies using the WIIMC menus, including text description, trailer viewing and film bibliograpies of the cast, plus the option to review the HD and SD torrents and subtitles available for that movie, and the option to initiate and control their download to a shared folder on your PC as required, from where you may watch them on your WII. Quite a mouthful!
It brings a whole new dimension to WIIMC and to the selection, acquisition and viewing of movies all from your easy chair using just the TV and your Wiimote!
I’ll be including “Torrents+” in the next distribution of my WIIMC modifications.
cadbuscaParticipantThat will not work. The setting file is hardcoded to load from apps/wiimc
cadbuscaParticipantThe file itself has these specs:
General : Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit – YouTube.flv
Format : Flash Video at 771 Kbps
Length : 25.5 MiB for 4mn 37s 710msVideo #0 : AVC
Aspect : 480 x 360 (1.333) at 23.976 fpsAudio #0 : AAC
Infos : 2 channels, 44.1 KHzcadbuscaParticipantOnly solution is don’t insert the SD when you want to to use the HD version.
cadbuscaParticipantAFAIC YouTube does not output any .swf files, so these posts make no sense. See wikiopedia for all the formats.
cadbuscaParticipantI think a workaround is to switch to medium definition in the settings. I’ve patched mine to fix it.
cadbuscaParticipantActually they only work in 3D on the PC with 3D support…and yes there is a bug in WIIMC caused by a YT change in the video choices data.
cadbuscaParticipantYoutube now supports 3D videos. Post the link you used so it can be diagnosed.
January 13, 2012 at 8:57 pm in reply to: WIIMC+ Enhancement Pack Version 10C for WIIMC 1.2.0 @ SVN995 #29576cadbuscaParticipantOK, thanks for that feedback. Yes I have a new version ready to release, but I want to test it some more, and if possible do it when 1.3 is released if that happens soon.
This release will also support WIIMC+ Jukebox+ which will allow multiple copies of WIIMC+ to be installed, each with a different menu icon which when clicked will initiate the playback of a predefined video directory or audio playlist and then return to the menu for another “jukebox” selection.
This release will also include a killer application called Torrents+ which will allow you to Search for and review movies in both text summary and trailer form, see their length, rating and genre, select from the top 5 SD and HD torrents, manage their downloads, search for and select matching subtitles and download and unzip them, and also see the film bibliographies of for director and cast and do the same things to those clips.
How’s that for a couple of teasers?
As you are also probably aware, WIIMC+ uses its own unique screen sizing and zoom feature designed to give a perfect fit, rather than requiring the manual vertical/horizontal squeeze/stretching of the standard version patch, so that finer control screen sizing patch is not included in wiimc+.
I’ll send you an early release once its ready, if you will feed me back any problems.
January 13, 2012 at 1:24 pm in reply to: WIIMC+ Enhancement Pack Version 10C for WIIMC 1.2.0 @ SVN995 #29574cadbuscaParticipantWhy, are you having problems with my current release? No one has indicated problems with it, like the official release. Let me know if there are problems I need to address.
cadbuscaParticipantWhich fix please. I don’t see anything relevant unless it was a component/lib problem.
cadbuscaParticipantMe too…that’s why I patched mine.
cadbuscaParticipantNo all the WIIMC code to do that is unavailable to me.
