Thanks. The .mkv was likely an avc stream which requires lots of cpu to decode. My tests show that lip sync is lost with them around 640 wide and 500kbps even though the video may play at higherwidth and rates. Xvids require less cpu and the Wii seems to be able to handle 1280 wide up to at least 1500kbps but thats no good for good quality BR xvids which require ~ 3mbps. MPEG2 is the least demanding but most of mine are 1920 so I haven’t identified their 1280 limit yet.
All this is moot since the WII scales everything down to Standard Definition so vlc-shares is the best HD solution using the PC to do the scaling and the WII to play the resulting 640 wide MPEG at 4mbps = DVD quality.
cadbuscaParticipantThis really depends on the codec used for the video stream. Can you post what codecs your videos were using?
I’d like to update my what plays and what does not play post. Thanks.cadbuscaParticipantWhile Enhancement Pack II was developed using R446 and the Windows Compile Instructions, I have been advised by others who have figured out how to compile subsequent releases that the changes are also compatible with 1.0.7 at R464. For those of you who have done the same, attached is an updated patch that merges without conflict with R464.
cadbuscaParticipantI have no interest in managing another SVN, especially one in a high state of flux as is libogc, or in attempting to expand this guide to address that process. In view of this new requirement, forced by the decision of the development team to use pre-release pre-req code rather than the published compile pre-req of libogc 1.8.3, my decision is to stay with SVN 446 as my enhancement development base, and add selected new SVN non-libogc dependent mods to that base as I require. I will therefore be publishing no further updates to this compile guide which is correct and current as of SVN446.
SVN446 is highly functional and stable, and my testing shows that it will play all videos up to 1280×720 resolution except AVC video streams which are limited to 1024. For these larger format HD videos, the bitrate becomes the limitation and continuous “buffering” starts to occur some where in the 3-4mbps range which is a WII and not a WIIMC limitation. With the availability of vlc-shares to play these higher rate videos, and since I have no need for IOS202 or its replacement, I have no need for anything more than SVN446 as enhanced by my latest Pack and compiled using this guide and its updates.
I now consider this thread closed.
cadbuscaParticipantDoesn’t make sense to me..I have multiple WIIMC versions on my HBC and they all work perfectly, but I don’t use IOS202 or forwarder..just a vanilla install. Sorry I can’t help.
cadbuscaParticipantHave you tried without the forwarder? Might help narrow it down.
cadbuscaParticipantOK I’m getting it too starting with SVN 448. Stay with 446 until we get clarification.
cadbuscaParticipantLots of info in the forum..just read any thing with SMB.
cadbuscaParticipantI have the same config but without 202 and mine works flawlessly. Try without 202 and see if it makes a difference. Also be sure your WII is using the recommended wireless channel (11) and is not subject to other wireless signals. Scan with Inssider to see what other routers may be interfering, and try switching other wireless devices like phones and extenders to different channels. Here is a good reference http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/cs-004818.htm
cadbuscaParticipantTry these..they work fine for me.
cadbuscaParticipantJust to confirm my experience, if I wait until the HBC network icon stops blinking before starting WIIMC, I no longer have connect problems, but I also note that HBC 1.0.7 which I just installed “Fixed the retry mechanism for the network initialization”, so perhaps the fix was there. http://www.hackmii.com/
cadbuscaParticipantInteresting. Does that command currently stream to the WII but interlaced?
VLC commands are described here: http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_command-line_help
Looks like transcoding does the deinterlace. –sout-transcode-deinterlacecadbuscaParticipantBeats me. This has nothing to do with WIIMC.
cadbuscaParticipantI’m not aware of any problem there. Clip 6 megs off the file with “partcopy” http://www.virtualobjectives.com.au/utilitiesprogs/PartCopy_v1.11.2.4.zip
and attach it to your reply and I’ll look at it for you.cadbuscaParticipantI don’t believe so, I am not aware of any option to do that.
