When you install Easyphp I think you will find it has created YOUR_EASY_PHP_INSTALL_DIR directory. I had to think a few times about that one too.

How many times does it need to be pointed out that these problems are usaually video or stream pacific. There is no point in saying there are buffering problems with Onlinevideo or with SMB because its simply not true. Most onlinestreams and videos over SMB play fine, so if you are having problems, don’t bother to post them until you have pinned it down to a specific stream or a specific video that can be used to repeat the problem and then provide those details so others can try and duplicate it. In both of these posts the problem would appear to be that the stream and video exceed the WII’s limited ability to play them which is extensively described elsewhere.

I have not seen this behaviour. Did it start with 1.0.6 or was it there with 1.0.4 as well? Also what streams can did it happem with so I can try and duplicate. I have made other posts regarding my buffering experiences and you may wish to read and post more info. http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=631 http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=624 http://www.wiimc.org/tracker/index.php?do=details&task_id=173

This should be reported as a bug in the bug log which will give it a number and future tracking.

Thanks Pista. Users should note that the original Guide has been edited to reflect new info and feedback from others. If you use the guide checkback periodically for those updates.

It is my belief that some of the on-line video source files (navi and shoutcast tv) are of a format incompatible with the WII. Their symptoms of failure..playing a bit then freezing or becoming jerky, or even crashing.. are similar to playing videos that are just slightly above the WII capability either in scale or bit rate. This doesn’t mean that there are not bugs, but the same player code is used as with normal videos, and for me the normal videos within WII spec all play fine, Remember that these sources are expecting PC’s to play these streams so limiting to WII capability is not a concern to them. Unfortunately I know of no way to detect these unplayable streams and warn they may crash like I’ve been able to do with video files, other than experience. Perhaps we could all post in a sticky, the names of navi & shoutcast online streams that do not play so others can avoid them.

Well since all of your movies do it on both WIIMC and MPLAYER-CE it can’t be the WIIMC player since they are different players.. You will have to look at other aspects of your system. Pick a file, analyse it to verify it is fully WII compatible, then play it from different sources to see if the problem is specific to any of them. Others who have moded the WII as you have at least with 202 have had problems like this..some reported here .. http://code.google.com/p/mplayer-ce/issues/detail?id=541. I have no mods and all my movies which are WII compatible play fine. Looks to me like your problem is movies don’t play on the WII rather than on WIIMC.

And you can use resume to restart them where they stopped?

I don’t think it makes much difference, unless you have a slow network where the movie plays faster than the data arrives and you want to play a longer portion before it stops on an empty buffer and refills. I have also noted that with on-line video that there is enough data available to start playing a movie once 5% is loaded so if you have a 30% buffer it will wait 6x longer than it needs to before starting play. Again doesn’t mean much on a fast connection or local drive but it does when streaming from a slow server. As a result I use 10%. I may be totally wrong on this and others may have more info but it works for me.

Movies are not just movie files..there are may different combinations of video and audio encodings and each one uses a different program (codec) to play each part of it, so when it doesn’t play, fixing it needs to know where to look. For example, all my different format movies play fine except avc/aac .flv files with one audio channel. They crashed. The bug was in the one channel decoding now fixed in the last SVN. So when people say all my movies don’t play, it doesn’t mean much unless they are all of the same format (unlikely). And since all my different movies play fine, I don’t buy it.
But if your movies don’t play and you want someone to fix it then you need to get Mediainfo and post the information it provides and perhaps even a few megs off the front using Partcopy so someone can diagnose it. No point in telling the doctor that you hurt unless you can tell what part hurts and present that part for examination!

Post your subtitle file and I will try it. Also post Title and extension of movie and a few megs from the front. Use “Partcopy” to do that.

You need to post what level of code you are using, and what IOS’s if any you have installed. As you will see in other posts there have been a lot of problems with 1.0.5 release, and new IOS202, and indications that some HDD won”t work on USB without improved IOS202. Personally I use no IOS, just vanilla WIIMC, and all versions of the code work with my 320kb HDD on USB.

Well, first of all congratulations, you just found hetfield’s problem. I guess he missed pista’s post but the original author posted an image that duplicates his initial problem post above.

There is another script in the forums that is missing the liba52 compile step so perhaps thats where you got the idea that it was missing from mine…Interestingly my /libs/liba52/libtool file still just contains AR=”ar” and it worked fine for me but I will post a pointer in my instructions that this may be required.
