I have some news to report!
I got SMB sharing to work. The problem was with Norton Internet Security, which was blocking my Wii from accessing my computer. The Norton program doesn’t load every time my computer starts up (what a pain!), so I had no way of configuring its settings initially.
Anyway, now that SMB is working, I can access AVIs that are both on my computer and burned to a disc that resides in its disc drive. Still, I would like to figure out why WiiMC crashes when it tries to load a disc in the Wii drive!
cyrus800ParticipantWiiMC can’t connect to the shared folder if both the username and password are left blank, and I haven’t changed any settings regarding sharing on the network. I right-click on the folder, click on “Sharing and Security…,” and enable the “Share this folder on the network” option. Is there any way to check and see if Windows has password-protected sharing on my network?
Tantric, both WiiMC and SNES9X GX report that they are using IOS 58.
cyrus800ParticipantOut of curiosity, I tried burning the AVIs to an HP DVD-R and WiiMC is still crashing.
When WiiMC starts up, I click on the Videos icon in the upper bar, then on “Data DVD” in the sub-menu. I get a new window that says “Loading DVD…,” then WiiMC crashes with the “Exception (DSI) occurred!” message.
I tried setting up SMB and am having problems. I have my IP address and have enabled sharing for the folder containing the videos, but am unsure of which username and password to use. I tried both leaving it blank and using the username and password for my router, but still am receiving a failure message when I try to connect. What username and password am I supposed to use?
Tantric, how do I find out which IOS programs are using?
cyrus800ParticipantOK, I just updated to WiiMC 1.1.1 and I’m still having the same problem!
Yes, the files play fine on my PC and also in WiiMC if I put them on the SD card instead of the DVD. As for the media I’m using, I’ve got Memorex DVD-Rs. The funny thing is, is that other homebrew programs that I’ve got for my Wii (like Genesis Plus GX and SNES9X GX) can read files off of these Memorex DVD-Rs with no problem! Why does WiiMC crash?
cyrus800ParticipantOK, I just tried burning a disc using the “ISO9660 + Joliet” file system instead of just “ISO9660” and now I’m getting “Error opening dvd:/” messages. This is really frustrating!
