Argh! It had been doing so well lately… Then just now it took me 10 tries to get a darn video to play.
Is there any information we can provide to try to troubleshoot this? Is there a version I can install that has some extra debugging settings on or anything? I’d be happy to try to get to the bottom of this.
It has nothing to do with any specific file since once one file plays, they all play, and if one file doesn’t, none of them will. *sigh*

It won’t play any files at all. Then after the 6th or 7th crash/reboot it will decide to start working fine. Then it will play any file at all until I exit.
*sigh*
January 15, 2012 at 3:24 am in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29504Drew BuglioneParticipantJust got an update prompt and installed it. First movie I tried to play worked so that’s a good sign.
Hopefully the rest keep working.
Thanks for the update!!
December 24, 2011 at 10:51 pm in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29501Drew BuglioneParticipantAny chance a new version could be released to see if we can get anything fixed?
If not, does anyone have any recommendations for any alternative programs I can use to play my videos? Having to play a movie 19 times to get it to work is getting really old… Especially since it’s been 4 months.
November 24, 2011 at 4:24 pm in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29486Drew BuglioneParticipantThe one thing I’ve noticed is that when it does crash, I can always tell because it sits at the Loading screen for longer than normal. I’m almost wondering if it’s a connectivity issue that it’s trying to cache the video, running into some sort of problem, and then crashing out.
I tried changing the cache setting to 10% but it didn’t seem to help. I do all my movies over Wifi but it’s a perfectly fine signal so not sure what the issue is.
Last night I played the same video 4-5 times and then it finally decided to work. Any chance an update can be pushed out that includes some more logging to help troubleshoot this and figure out the root cause? It seems to be happening to enough people that some steps to figure it out should be taken…
I’m willing to be a guinea pig.
November 4, 2011 at 10:23 pm in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29479Drew BuglioneParticipantTwo days ago my wife couldn’t get anything to play. Thing crashed and rebooted 5-6 times and she finally gave up. Now today it’s playing just fine.
Really freaking annoying but impossible to reproduce on a regular basis.
October 9, 2011 at 11:38 am in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29472Drew BuglioneParticipantWell my crashing is back this morning. Trying to play a couple different files and everything is crashing. mkvs and avis both. I can’t get a single file to play.
I tried going in directly from my WiiMC icon on the home page as well as going into the HB channel and launching it from there. Nothing works.
No idea what could have changed as I didn’t do anything and it’s been working fine for the past few weeks…
Also, this is a bit different than the past because I can’t get anything to play at all, even if I try the same video over and over and even if I play videos I’ve played before. I have no explanation as I don’t think WiiMC upgraded lately (did it?) and nothign has changed on my end. 🙁
October 2, 2011 at 5:49 pm in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29468Drew BuglioneParticipantJust thought I’d throw in my 2 cents that my crashes just kind of stopped happening for some reason. I think I deleted the line from the XML file and that seems to have helped for me.
I load WiiMC from it’s own icon on the Wii menu menu and all my videos are streamed from a computer over the wireless network.

FYI, I have NOT removed the line and the submitted file plays fine for me and the embedded subs display. I tried playing multiple times, jumped back and forth in the video and resumed it. They all work as they should.
Same for me once it played the first time. I haven’t had any other problems so far today. No explanation as to why it crashed the first 3 tries though. It’s been buggy ever since that update last week or so ago.

Have you tried removing the no_ios_reload line from the meta.xml?
Since I don’t know what that means, no I haven’t. I assume that’s in a folder on my SD card somewhere?
September 15, 2011 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29451Drew BuglioneParticipantSo here’s the sample file you asked for.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1787993/Battlestar_Galactica_-_S02E11.mkvI booted up my Wii, ran WiiMC, selected the file, and it crashed.
After the reboot I did it again, and it crashed again.
After the reboot I did it again, and it crashed again.
After the third reboot, I played it for the 4th time and it started right up and played to completion. This seems to happen almost every time I run WiiMC and play a file.Would love if someone could figure out why.
September 13, 2011 at 11:40 am in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29450Drew BuglioneParticipantWe have the issue almost every time we play anything. First time it will crash the program. Second time (same video) it will decide to work. Sometimes it’s the 3rd try when it works. No idea why it would do that or what.
I stream all my videos from another computer so I thought maybe it could be the network connection but others have them on a USB HDD so I guess that’s probably not it.
I can upload a video that has given us the problem but since the same video will then work the 2nd or 3rd time, not sure if that will help.
September 5, 2011 at 2:55 pm in reply to: Crash dumps since the last update – Sample file included #29446Drew BuglioneParticipantI tried updating to 1.2.0 today and everything I’ve tried to play just crashes right away. These are just plain AVI files.
I snapped a picture of the crash screen in case it helps to shed any light on what the problem might be.
Can anyone help?September 3, 2011 at 3:21 am in reply to: "DVD Playback is not supported on this Wii" ERROR with 1.1.9 #29413Drew BuglioneParticipant@brausm08 wrote:

i can confirm DVD playback on 1.1.2 (cuz that’s the only prior version i could find on my old SD cards…) …version 1.1.9 wants nothing to do with DVD’s….
All the previous versions are available at the Downloads link up above…
Drew BuglioneParticipantAnd if I do create a playlist offline, and make sure it’s in the right format, how do I get that into WiiMC? Do I have to manually copy it onto my SD Card and stick it in a certain folder, or is there some way to load the playlist from the network drive my music is on?
Thanks.
