😥 Darn. Well if you ever change your mind I for one would appreciate it. My harddrive (WD My Book Essential 1TB v1) never has worked as well (access time in particular) as it has with the old cIOS202 based WiiMC versions. I would love to see the same performance back in the newest versions of WiiMC via rodries Hermes v5.1 MOD cIOS202.
Thanks anyways.

james4204ParticipantAwesome. I didn’t realize that “dvd subs fixed” included idx-subs with non-dvd video like AVIs. I thought it meant subtitles were fixed only when a DVD was actually being played, referring to a separate issue. Come to think of it, that “1024” width statement should of made that clear as DVDs are limited to 576.
No problems waiting for a new release. Good things are worth the wait. BTW is the next version also going to re-introduce support for IOS202? I believe rodries made a few beta test versions available with such support…but I don’t remember what came of it…
Thanks

james4204ParticipantDrive passed all tests it seems. Did not bother waiting more than 5 seconds after plugging in drive before pressing A, seems not to matter for my drive (wear and tear be damned lol).
Some Information about my drive:
-My Book Essential Edition 2.0
-Model# WD10000H1U-00
-Website: http://support.wdc.com/product/install.asp?groupid=110&lang=en-[]D
james4204ParticipantThere isn’t much to “install” as far as homebrew like WiiMC go. Both WiiBrew and the Complete SoftMOD Guide sum up the process in less than half a page.
Essentially you just need to make sure that you have the HomeBrew Channel v1.0.8+ installed using IOS58. If this is the first time installing WiiMC, you then just unzip the WiiMC 1.1.1 (New Install) and WiiMC Channel Installer 1.6 packages into your SD card’s root directory preserving the folder structure. You should then see a WiiMC entry to install the WiiMC channel in the HomeBrew Channel, run the channel installer once, and then you can delete it after the channel successfully installs.
You should now be able to run WiiMC via the WiiMC channel on your Wii’s Menu or using the WiiMC entry in your HomeBrew Channel.

james4204ParticipantHad same problem with my 1TB WD MyBook Essential drive and WiiMC v1.1.0. I am glad to report however, that with WiiMC v1.1.1 that the drive is detected right away when WiiMC is loaded via the HBC or the new WiiMC Channel Forwarder v1.6.

james4204ParticipantIn my experience HBB will always put a question mark on all versions different from the current version in it’s own database. Chances are that the HBB repository hasn’t been updated to reflect that WiiMC is now at v1.1.1. Wait awhile for HBB to catchup. Also, just look at the version number posted on the WiiMC entry in HBB, it will tell you what version it will download; if it is lower than the version you know you have…don’t download it from the HBB.

james4204ParticipantFor those experiencing the problem, have you tried enabling the 1:1 pixel mapping option that your HDTV may have? Try playing around with some of your TV settings…

james4204ParticipantI can also confirm experiencing this visual artifact during playback. Appears as a line of lagging macroblocks localized on the top of the video beginning at the left. It is most noticeable when motion occurs in the area affected.

james4204ParticipantI am experiencing the same downgrade in performance after having updated to WiiMC v1.0.9. The sound quickly goes out of sync on files that played fine on previous IOS202 based versions. I am forced to enable frame dropping which results in very choppy video as frames are dropped. Adjusting the audio delay does not work, as the sync delay seems to vary with the processing load. Even the older MPlayer CE v0.76 plays the video smoother and in sync in comparison to WiiMC v1.0.9, so possible an issue with IOS58???
After some long term viewing I find the WiiMC v1.0.9 Beta posted by Tantric is an improvement, and it does not prompt for a “update” nag which the other users in my home have uncontrollable impulses to press. The only problem with it is that if loaded via the WiiMC Channel v1.4 the USB hard drive is missing; if started via the HBC however, the USB hard drive is available. Ideally, WiiMC 1.0.6 is the best option right now for me, just wish I could hide that update prompt, it’s like a big shiny red button, lol.
Otherwise, I love the great work put into WiiMC. The Song Title display in the “screen saver” is just one of the great touches put into it. Looking forward to ongoing updates.
(Please remove the link if not kosher) Use at own risk but here is the Beta version I downloaded earlier, repacked as I deleted the original package after installing it…. WiiMC 1.0.9 (Update)
