Seconded! Thanks Tantric for such an amazing app. We use it loads in our house and would now be lost for tv without it. The latest update seems to have cleared up a few little problems too as I haven’t had any crashes at all since updating.
I think WiiMC is the finest piece of homebrew I have ever seen – including on pc, dreamcast, gp32, gp2x, nds, gba and xbox as well as the Wii.
jaymeParticipantHello again. There isn’t a problem after all. I just uninstalled and then re-installed WiiMC via Homebrew Browser and now it works again.
The only thing that I can think of to explain it is that i did modify the meta.xml file as per the crash dumps thread and this would presumably be undone through the re-install.
jaymeParticipantThere is already a post about this here: http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1504
Tantric is not having this problem so it is difficult for him to identify the problem that some people are having. In the above thread, Tantric does suggested:

delete the whole line that says
I did this and although it has not solved the problem, it has made the crashes far less frequent so I recommend you do this.

I think I have noticed a way to tell if the crash is going to happen. When I open WiiMC, if it takes me straight to the directory I was last viewing a file from then any video I select will load up fine. However, if I open WiiMC and I am taken to the device selection (SD cardor USB drive) then any video file I choose will give me a crash dump and return to Wii channel select after 8 seconds.
I have only noticed this pattern a few days ago but it seems to be holding true. So, if I now open WiiMC and am asked to choose a device then I turn the Wii off and then back on again and re-open WiiMC. It usually takes me to the folder I was last viewing a file from and then loads any video fine.

It usually crashes first time I run it, I then turn it off and then back on again and start WiiMC through WiiMC channel and it usually plays the file fine. I will try editing the xml file as suggested.
jaymeParticipantFound it! What an idiot I am, just had to scroll down a bit on the Video options. Thanks Tantric.
