Oh wow, I just installed this and so far, it seems to have helped. I was missing seemingly random files every time I started up the filesharing, I got different files every time I opened the share, it was quite annoying. I though it was a virus, never thought it could be an anti-virus š
Glad this helped out.

Hi
I have had WiiMC set up for ages and used to be able to use SMB shares to access my files on my PC. I have recently had a problem with my router and was sent a new one by my ISP. No problems there and internet is back up again and working ok. I did have to set up all my devices again as I have a new wireless password. The Wii is fine now and is online (checked with Iplayer and online game play). WiiMC however continues to tell me that it unable to connect to the SMB share.
These are the steps I have taken:
1. Turned my firewall off
2. Ended and re-set up the share on my PC
3. Ended and re-set up the share on my Wii within WiiMC
4. Done a complete new installation of the latest version of WiiMC (not sure if the settings were still using the old router settings)
5. Tried using older versions of WiiMCStill no joy. Please could anyone suggest anything that I may be missing.
Thanks
It’s because the IP of your computer changed with the new router.
Follow this thread info to correct the issue:

jekamanParticipantWhen you make a NETWORK SHARE for some reason SMB will not work in say MOVIESDVD.
So when you add MOVIESDVD to share name it will not work.
You must Directly share the DVD folder under MOVIES and use that share name.
Refer to this thread for help setting up a share:

Hi,
We have a home movie network with SMB shares that virtually have the shares open to the group “Everyone” so you don’t need a user name and password to look at or work with a movie share. I have noticed the WiiMC wants a user name and password. Is there anyway to program WiiMC to not require a user name and password ? I tried nothing in the user name and password field but that did not work. SMB networking works fine if I supply a proper use name and password, but… I have a number of machines with shares and don’t want to have to add user accounts to all of them to just get WiiMC working. XboxMC similarly works but it can browse shares and if you don’t have a use name and password… it’s ok. Sorry about the plug for XboxMC, it’s just a similar product that I also use.
Thanks for any assistance,

Super guide! Can this be made a sticky?
I think they did make it sticky. Which I thought was awesome.
Hope it helps everyone and cuts down on the same useless questions.jekamanParticipantYou don’t use your routers IP you use the IP of your computer.
