    I think your first idea might be a bit counterproductive in terms of versatility. You might not only use one USB device. I do think it would be nice to have video playlists, however.

    I believe this is the same problem from Mplayer CE with the Wii’s processor simply being too slow for h.264. But it’s nice to hear the video is working ok.

    See http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=46. It simply does not work with PASV, and I believe it would be up to your router if active mode would work. That said, I can’t get it to work either.

    This happened to me on Mplayer CE (the previous app) while using libdvdnav, which is the default on WiiMC. A workaround would be to go into the options and set it to “Play first title” (as I remember it).

    Edit: Forgot to mention that it re-synced after a minute or two into the new chapter. How good this is depends on how split up (into chapters) your DVD is.
