I stayed with green check marks to retain compatibility with WIIMC. As you have probably noticed, I have made an effort not to modify WIIMC but to only build upon what is there. I hope you used the “Autoplay next YouTube” option and sorted them by “name” which usually creates a logical sequence before starting the sesame playback?

Yup, I get a few hiccups in caching on some of the videos in the high setting but it works great. I hope Tantric and crew move some of these features into the regular build!

Also the question I had about the DVD auto play was cause it did not do it for me at first, rebooted the wii and all was fine (not sure what changed but it works).

Ahh I did not have the rumble on so I didn’t feel it, but now that you have explained it I’m good.

On a side note, why not use icons that are a little more descriptive to the status of the files? For example, a pause symbol (yellow would be nice) to denote paused files/folders and a check mark (red) to denote played files/folders? This would give a little more differentiation to the status icons. Note: I did not mention green as it is already used by the currently playing icon.

So far so good and no crashes, been using it all day to youtube sesame street! My munchkin loves it.

Loving the enhancement pack, but only a couple of suggestions:

One thing that is a little trouble some is the “B Toggle” for skip/audo delay. There does not seem to be a way to tell what mode you are in, other than pressing the button and noticing that it didn’t fast forward or rewind. Might I suggest a time out which would revert it back to ff/rw after a few seconds or a small status indicator on the screen to tell the user they are in audio delay mode.

Another oddity is the ‘<-' prefixing the B when it can be used to navigate or press buttons. I would think a simple (B) would suffice. This is changeable by the user in the code though.

No crashes or problems so far, excellent work!

On a side note, Is the auto play next under videos applicable to data dvds too?

I get the same thing every now and then, I posted about it [http://www.wiimc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1004].

It seems to happen regardless as to where you are browsing. I even had it do it one time right when I got in the application and pressed down to get to Data DVD. I have not seen it since the last time I posted but I will post more info if I get it again.

It’s just e thought, but a lot of mediacenters you buy, have torrent-support and can download torrents to the hd.

    Would this be possible?

Just setup transmission on a small computer and turn on the web interface. At that point you can use the internet channel to view and control your torrents. That is what I do.

Might I recommend a WD MyBook World Edition. It is a two disk raid device, normally in the sub $200 range, that can be hacked to run things like transmission. See [http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/hacks-and-howto]

You don’t have to do anything other than check to make sure the DVD option is set on in settings (A big hit here is if the dvd disc shows up top, then it is).

There is one catch, you would need to select Data DVD under the videos section, it will not work if you try to click the dvd disc on the top menu.

    I would check the following:

      1. Make sure your pc has a static ip on the router.

      2. Check to make sure your settings, if based on IPs, are correct. Check each of your shares to make sure the IP is the same that is on the computer you are sharing from.

      3. Try to ping the Wii from the PC to confirm connectivity.

      4. If one device is wired and the other is wireless, then make sure your router is bridging the traffic.

5.I guess a last ditch effort would be to use a cheap hub or a cross over cable to connect the wii and pc together. (Would require you to have another network card to connect the pc to the internet with, as well as internet sharing on the pc.)

If you try 5 and it works, your problem is going to be the router. Contact your ISP or the maker of the router to see if there is a setting that is filtering your traffic.

*This does assume that your windows shares are setup correctly and windows is not acting naughty and not permitting the connection.

Ya know I was just helping a buddy that had the same issue the other day. I just don’t under stand why Ol’ Ninty would cripple their devices like this. I would think they would look at the homebrew scene and take notes as to what people want and then release a channel for it.

For example I love WiiMC and have been able to cut my cable and what not because of it, I also think the devs of it have mad skills. On the other hand if Nintendo were to put their backing behind a media application and sick their devs on it who get “PAID” to make the apps, I think we could have an absolutely stellar application on our hands. Who wouldn’t give a few bucks for an app like this. (I just sent a few bucks WiiMC’s way today)

NOTE: I say could as big companies have a tendency to take great ideas and mess them up just to make it proprietary or make an extra buck (a la advertising).

Yea in my case the files get moved to different folders depending on how old they are (New Today, New Yesterday, Older) but the same should hold true for your portable drive if it is just looking for the file name. I pulled the source and it should not be a big edit and if I remember my C correctly it is limited to mplayer.c and the wii support code section. At a quick glance, I would think a simple strip of _filename down to just the basename inside each of the restore point functions would do the trick, but I will take a better look at it later.

I’m gonna try to free up some time to play around with this maybe in the next couple weeks, I’ll let ya know what I come up with.

Just wanted to bump this to see if it is a possibility or not likely. I know it is old, but it is right to the point.

I would love to see an option to delete the file after watching it. This could even be configurable (Never, Ask, Always) though the latter might be a bit too dangerous for some users. If it is configurable I would like to see it only in video as most people would use it there more than anywhere else.

I use wiimc to watch dvr’d shows and it is just tedious to delete the file afterwords when the app should be able to do so on its own (assuming your samba permissions are correct that is! ;P)

Note: I am not spot on with the OP, this was close enough to my desire so I just used it instead of making another post.

Well looking at the bitrates that have been posted, I generally stay at 1000kbs or less total bit rate and rarely have an issue. I too am running a linksys router but with the dd-wrt firmware.
