I would assume the work they do is more or less volunteer/unpaid
but i would be very interested to see them use your talents to add some flash to the player although it looks very pretty so farnala310Participant@exclaimed wrote:
1. Make a new folder called wiimc-plus – I believe this is where you are messing up, make sure you add the “-“.
2. Copy wiimc Release 1.2.6 into wiimc-plus
3. Copy in the WIIMC+ boot.dol, attached meta.xml and the new icon.png filesSuccess!!
your absolutely right about the folder name, I’m honestly embarrassed that i didn’t realize the folder name was so important.
I cannot blame the instructions because this requirement should be obvious or common knowledge to an experienced modder lol TYVM!!! exclaimed and jhb50nala310Participantits possible your ios58 is corrupted although this is rare.
you could try reinstalling ios58 and see if it helpsnala310Participantrepairing a corrupted ios58
search the web for other ways to repair your ios58 if this way seems too risky to you.Im not saying that your ios58 is corrupted, i cannot be 100% sure of that but it is possible and reinstalling ios58 is a good idea to try.
nala310Participantcheck this thread and see if it makes sense to you.
like i talked about in that other thread, try and make a backup copy of your dvd and see if that makes it work.
also the wii can only read dvd-r so dvd+r is a no go.on another thought from that other thread i think the wii might not understand commercial dvd’s since it was not designed to read commercial dvd’s (the hardware the internal disk drive is made from wasnt programmed to fully understand movie dvd’s, that theory was thought up from a known limitation of hardware where the wii cannot read 700MB CD’s at all “thus the reason wiimc doesnt have a audio cd option” and its possible that certain and maybe most commercial dvd’s might fail due to limitations of hardware)
goodluck
nala310Participanthmm i honestly hope that the only thing failing is the folder name… ill try it
nala310ParticipantA strange thing i have seen many times is that even if all the wii’s i see are setup exactly the same with the same cios versions and so on all the homebrew behaves differently with every wii, e.g. some work perfect, some have random problems, some never work properly with any homebrew.
I hate to see someone struggling with a great home theater box but as far as i can see, it might just be an unlucky console as with my 1st release console everything works flawlessly but my neighbores console (which is also a first release) it constantly struggles to work.
I assume that less than 10% of all consoles sold fail to work properly with some or all homebrew.
I’m sorry that you had to deal with something so frustrating but of course take what i say with a grain of salt since its possible i might be mistaken about your console.nala310Participantyour method is a great alternative to ios 58 issues.
MMM isnt always the best tool and i have had issues with it before.nala310Participantexternal USB drives are read in a filesystem browser type format and wiimc for now does not read dvd files properly so no unlike the wii’s internal dvd drive which wiimc treats much differently, an external dvd drive will not play a dvd like the internal drive.
this limitation is due to the fact that the wiimc team had not concidered the idea of usb dvd drives yet.
be patient and make a request for usb dvd drive support for dvd playback.
the biggest positive of a usb dvd drive is dvd+r support ^.^ but im sure its far more complicated than i would like to believe.hmm usb blu-ray….. i wonder if that could even work…
nala310Participantwiimc.org acts as a middle man so wiimc can play youtube content.
the middle man is very limited on how it uses youtube search features so im sorry to say that filtering searches is not possible yet.nala310Participantyour mistake was that you updated which means that the softmod on your wii is broken and must be redone
nala310Participantas long as the folder name/ ip address/ username/ password is correct it should work.
I believe you are having a network security settings issue.
here is a place that may be able to help you setup your shares properlynala310ParticipantNavi-X allows you to make your own channel but you will have to search their forums to learn how to make a wiimc compatible channel
nala310Participantyour nas may not have samba aka SMB support
