Any new advice on how to use SMB with 10.7, since nothing seems to work for me? I can only use FTP which is a pain to go through all the folders to get to my media everytime, also WiiMC won’t work when you go from FTP to SMB and back again which is how everything on my server is shared.
qwertymodoParticipantI too am getting constant crashes trying to play videos. It loads for a few seconds and then just hangs. Have had to reboot the machine a dozen times in just the past few days. I will be downgrading as this update just doesn’t cut it.
qwertymodoParticipantOK, thanks. I wasn’t clear that it was a separate download from WiiMC.
qwertymodoParticipantOK fair enough. I’m managing alright with FTP at the moment. Lets hope Apple gets their act together with the next update. Thanks.
qwertymodoParticipantOnly about 10% of the population is Black and/or Jewish (You pick your favorite ethnic group), but that doesn’t mean they get ignored in our society. Yes, Apple has made life difficult and there is no love lost for them, but it doesn’t mean their users should be punished. I second a vote for a LION-friendly update. Thanks.
qwertymodoParticipantOK I found something today called PureFTPd Manager, which after a bit of tinkering seemed to help get all the settings working.
qwertymodoParticipantSorry but I still can’t get this to work at all.
I followed the instructions in the apple support article, in step 3 I seem to be able to make users but not groups. when I try to add myself as a group the terminal says “Record was not found.”
Then in wiimc, I put in my imac’s internal ip address. put in my admin name and password and just get a message “failed to connect to IP site” when I try to connect. I left folder blank like you said.
qwertymodoParticipantNo clue why I can’t connect with FTP. I will try it again from scratch when I get a chance tomorrow and see if I can get it working.
qwertymodoParticipantThanks, but this isn’t working for me, I just get “failed to connect to fTP site” after I set it up. Followed the directions I think. Did all the terminal commands. What exactly is the group? is this the name of the folder you want to share? How about the other settings, port and so forth?
May 19, 2010 at 12:43 am in reply to: Continuous Play/Random/Loop doesn’t work in Audio player #25119qwertymodoParticipantMight I ask you to reconsider? I love WiiMc for video, but It is not much use to me for Audio because of the lack of continuous play in folders. I have all my music organized already into album folders and have no desire to spend time making up playlists. I just want to be able to browse to the folder, hit play and be good to go for an album’s worth of music. Thanks.
