I was having similar problems, and resolved them by setting “drop frames” to “auto” (it was set to “off”), under settings / video. It fixed a sound delay problem I was having.
But there were also some movies that were giving a debug/reload screen problem, and after this change they were still doing so. After, changing the “drop frames” configuration, I also renamed these movie files, and they stopped giving me the debug/reload screen.
